Aug 29, 2023 #NBCNews #Hurricane #Florida Florida is preparing for Hurricane Idalia as the state is threatened with record-setting storm surge and significant flooding. NBC News’ Al Roker, Tom Llamas and Gabe Gutierrez have the latest weather updates.
no it’s not ...
Slava Idalia?
Living in the country in Florida, can have its troubles.
Internet can go out when a live wire, falls from a pole after a tree limb hits it.
Live wire shorts out to the earth and induces power into the copper dsl lines carrying the internet.
I’m in coastal Florida directly east of where the storm is at.
I’ve been getting light rain and substantial wind (~30mph).
The local Aldi was closed early so I’ll not have ice cream tonight.
Forza Idalia.
Out internet went out for 20-30 minutes. Lights flickered. Husband was just leaving WaMart & said the whole windshield was lit up... not like a normal streak of lightening. Then, loud boom. He thought maybe WalMart got struck?
We have an amazing Governor
Schools closed. WalMart still open. He told me bread & water low. But, pretty much shelves stocked.
Putin's fault.
are you in jax?
And if Ron DeSantis receives the nomination, I bet he’ll be one of the greatest presidents in US history.
I am in Wilmington, NC. Does anyone have any information on whether or not to evacuate? I can’t find out anything online.

Storm surge is going to be bad, but it’s a fast moving storm at least. Surge always seems much worse in the Gulf than the Atlantic. I guess due to it being shallower close to the beach.
Then she’s going to go out into the Atlantic and maybe do a Jeanne on us and then come back for seconds.

Public schools along NC’s south and eastern borders to close
Public schools in Pender and Robeson counties will be closed on Thursday due to severe weather.
Robeson County schools have also asked parents to prepare for the possibility of an early dismissal on Wednesday. All after-school and athletics events are canceled for Wednesday.
I had to accept he’s not who I thought he was.
With his words about folks taking their marching orders
from Truth Central, Ron really implied that Trump followers
were a bunch of simpletons, and that Trump was simple minded
enough to ask people to follow bad policy plans.
Here I thought Ron was on board with Trump’s platform, and
come to find out he was trashing people for even listening
to it.
I had to do an about face on him.
He’s not the next Trump. He’s the next Jeb Bush. That
really bothers me, because I was setting up to support
him from 2028 to 2036.
That plan is now retired.
Keri Lake isn’t tried and true. We haven’t seen her
govern. Romsewhammy came out of nowhere, and I don’t
trust out of nowhere people any farther than I can
drop kick them.
Those are made up of Carters and Obamas. NO!
Lake is pretty close to that also.
So coming up in 2028, we have a real dilemma on our hands.
I am 45 miles south of Tampa and Idalia’s eye is about 130 offshore Sarasota.
The only thing happening here is some much needed rain today.
Now for the folks in Big Bend—it will not be good as Idalia starts to turn east later tonight.
Let me know when they close the Waffle House.
Check with NautiNurse. She’s been posting about this since the weekend. She has a regular ‘Surf’s Up’ Thread when hurricanes are headed to the southern coasts.
