Is coffee racist? How drinking coffee perpetuates white supremacy
AFRU ^ | August 27,2023 | AFRU Staff

If you’re a person of color, you know what I’m talking about. You walk into a new coffee shop and your senses are overwhelmed with whiteness and you get the glare from the Karens. The white hipster barista lines herself up between you and the bathrooms, ready to tell you non-customers aren’t welcome...

Well, I’m here to validate your lived experience; coffee is in fact horribly racist, and there’s data to back it up.

Every facet of the coffee industry, in fact, is rooted in racism. From the moment the whites viciously stole coffee from Black and Brown People to the present-day Karen sipping her morning cup of white supremacy, whites have been able to drink the fruits of our labor and our culture with impunity...

Unfortunately, coffee is not the only racist drink on the market. Milk also became racist after white supremacists began using the white drink as a symbol of their skin. Yes, racist roots in the coffee industry are certainly much deeper, but the whiteness of milk and milk’s devastating effects on the beautiful Black body makes it almost as bad as coffee for some Black people.

So, if both milk and coffee are racist, what can be done? Many people will insist that combining the two drinks actually cancels out the racism, because it represents the white becoming pregnant with Blackness, and creating a delicious Brown result. This is why antiracist folks often take milk in their coffee — a subconscious purifying ritual.

But ultimately, and I know this will hurt, a proper commitment to doing antiracist direct action requires that we give up coffee altogether. Unless you’re Ethiopian.

Add to that the little tilt of the head, and a weaken whine while saying, I get it, I really do.

Why does adding milk to coffee “represent the white becoming pregnant with Blackness”?

(of course other than the fact of 99% the case (and the objective))

This article is a crock trying to create racial inceidents.

Ethiopia Arabica production is forecast nearly flat at 8.4 million bags and remains the world’s third-largest Arabica producer behind Brazil and Colombia. Yields have been stubbornly stuck around 14 bags per hectare while other top Arabica producers average yields that are 40-60 percent higher. Improved crop management practices have not
been widely adopted because 95 percent of production occurs on non-commercial plots typically onehalf hectare or less. Few non-commercial growers are interested in incurring investment costs due to the informal nature of their growing method, while commercial growers note that 5 to 10 years are needed to realize a return on their investment. Yields are also low due to limited use of fungicides despite the presence of coffee berry disease, coffee wilt disease, and root rot disease. Bean exports are forecast unchanged on stable supplies.

Strange how facts get in the way when you are trying to create a problem.

Everything I do is racist. From my first breath in the morning until I go to sleep is racist. Even when I sleep my wife and I are racist according to the narrative of today. How am I supposed to react to being an existential threat to the world/future. I could roll over, give up, beg for a mercy death or I can ignore and hope the threat goes away. The 20th century is full of examples that mercy is non-existence. So I’m am left with two choices embrace my fantasy guilt or embrace my fantasy guilt. The truth is I am left with the choice on how to embrace my guilt. I would love to ask the minority population how I should do what they are asking. I can go weekly into the future or go boldly into this future. I do know what I would recommend to themselves if faced with the same situation. I know I would actively resist with the. I guess you might call it an underground path to fight / flee / fight / flee as many times as necessary to face the evil. To my brothers, are you willing to be that underground support? My guess is it is few and far between. Freedom is a very fleeting concept.

Build yourself some safe houses now while you can. Soon the digital age will make it impossible.

There must be a "final solution" to your intransigence.

I am sure they DO have a plan.

I was chuckling along, as I thought this was the Babylon Bee, but no....

Some people have too much time on their hands.

Hobbies are good.

Knitting, wood working, tropical fish, collecting vintage metal lunch boxes...

Apparently, behind every door there's a beer bellied Cracker in a white robe and a pointy hood.

Can't wait to get to work, tomorrow, so we can sit around, with our cups of White Supremacy Roast Folgers and conspire about keeping the black man down./ sarc

I’m going to perk my coffee every morning knowing that it comes from my Father’s homeland of Peru and in some small way employs people there.

IIRC, for eons the slavers in Africa have been and still are Black.
