Kyle Rittenhouse is facing a lawsuit from the estate of one of the men he shot in self-defense.
The lawsuit was timely filed on the third anniversary of the death of 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum Friday. Rittenhouse was acquitted of all criminal charges surrounding the incident a year later
Rosenbaum's estate is also targeting the City of Kenosha, its officials, the City of West Allis, six local Sheriff’s departments, and two police departments for “compensatory and punitive damages” over what it refers to as Rosenbaum's “wrongful death.” During Rittenhouse's trial, witnesses confirmed that Rosenbaum reached for Rittenhouse's gun during the Black Lives Matter protest the two were present at.
"I’m being sued again for defending my life," Rittenhouse posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Good,me too
The process is punishment. You obviously know this. However, the rest of the conservative movement is slow to the realization.
Kyle should start suing everyone who caused him grief, and that goes for not only Mr. Rittenhouse but everyone touched by liberalism. Follow Saul Alinsky’s multi step plan, start making libs live up to their rules. Never stop pushing and ridicule, ridicule, ridicule nonstop.
Kennedys paid them off.
If Rosenbaum hadn’t been there to cause problems that night, he’d still be alive. He is 100% responsible for his own death.
Did you think the same way when Fred Goldman sued O.J. Simpson?
For the record, yes I did. IMHO, Fred Goldman would have earned my respect had he sued the right people for the miscarriage of justice. I watched every bit of that sad spectacle I could and I told the wife before the verdict that Simpson was going to walk. First year law students could have presented a better prosecution.
I cannot stand someone winning a big dollar civil lawsuit against someone acquitted. Like you said it’s a sick form of double jeopardy.
That day Rosenbaum was discharged from a Milwaukee hospital following his second suicide attempt and set loose on the streets of Kenosha. He chased Kyle around cars, threw a bag at him and attempted to disarm him. He gave chase!
The “estate” should sue the hospital for releasing a deranged (and violent) individual who was a danger to himself and others.
What are they suing for? What has Rittenhouse got? If it’s not for the money (he doesn’t have) it must be for a political/social reason which means it’s not really the estate (the family) behind the suit.
If Rittenhouse countersues, what has the estate got that he can sue for and get? I doubt the estate has much money of their own. Can he sue whoever is backing the estate?
The fact that is country allows a civil suit after wining in a criminal trial is just sick.
“That’s the problem with OJ Simpson’s case.”
I agree even though he probably did it.
Rosenbaum’s estate? What a joke.
1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
What are you talking about?
The corrupt lawyer taking these guy's bogus case could have refused to take it. He didn't. He took it for the money even though it is baseless.
The corrupt judge first hearing the case could enter a summary judgement in favor of the defendant or throw the case out some other way. But you know he won't. He will let the case proceed for years and years so the lawyers will be well paid for this sham.
The only person held hostage is the defendant who is trying to preserve his life, freedom, savings, and reputation, against the predation of lawyers on both the plaintiff's and his own side.
Don't give us any nonsens about how 'the legal profession' is held hostage, and must do these things.
The legal profession is wholly corrupt.
Same thing applies to Trump. The corrupt judges could throw all these bogus cases against Trump out with prejudice and even entertain motions against the prosecution for malicious prosecution, BUT THEY DON'T. The case could be promptly referred to the Supremes, and it probably should, because of the nature of the case, BUT IT WON'T BE.
It is corruption on the part of most lawyers, and of course judges, that keeps this charade going.
It is not a 'profession held hostage'.
The lawyers and judges are not hostages, but kidnappers.
Why is not the ABA, or rank-and-file lawyers, protesting the abusive and unjust prosecution of Trump? Why are they not protesting the illegal activities surrounding the unjust plea deals surrounding Hunter Biden?
Why are not attorneys complaining about the failure to the Justice Department to prosecute Biden, and their weaponization against religious Christians? Why are lawyers not protesting the unjust persecution of the J6 defendants?
The legal profession is not being held hostage, it is just feckless in its silence, or in fact, complicit in the Government's persecution of innocent citizens.
That was a bad precedent. Even if we all get off in the criminal case, they can just sue us in civil case for something like "hate speech" See where I'm going with this?
World’s worst “justice” system from top to bottom. If it were just, everyone involved in bringing these kind of lawsuits would be arrested.
I wonder...used to be a judge could immediately dismiss a case based on frivoulsness. The system is so lame.
DAD never should have paid a penny-—
Kid was old enough to get married-—Dad wasn’t responsible in any way, IMO.
I don’t know anything about wrongful death in Wisconsin except what can be gleaned here. In CA, the estate does not own the claim for wrongful death, the family members do. In fact, all of the statutory wrongful death heirs must be brought in to the case, even if they don’t want to be. The recovery is measured by the quality of the deceased to the respective relatives. For example, if he was a dutiful son to his parents, they’d get something, but if he hadn’t spoken to them in 15 years, the lost relationship has no value in the wrongful death cases. Likewise a loving and supporting dad vs someone who abandoned their family and was a deadbeat
My roundabout point is the quality of a persons life comes to light in these cases. I can’t imagine that vermin’s life being highly valued by a jury
That was Huber, I believe. Skateboard boi. Rosenbaum was the “Shoot me, bro.” loudmouth.
Rittenhouse acted within the law. But it could be argued that the City and it’s PD were negligent in failing to arrest all the rioters and arsonists destroying the town. Had police arrested Rosenbaum when he ran amok and started a fire, Rittenhouse wouldn’t have had to defend himself.
Somehow, I doubt that will be the parent’s approach. I also doubt that they have assets to go after in a countersuit. It’s a shame that the lawyer grifting this case can’t be forced to pay everyone’s legal expenses and damages for the harm Rosenbaum caused.
All true well said. Being a lawyer is a thug occupation. Legalized crime.
