The American 7th Corps defeat of the German army in Cherbourg was a major development for the Allied in late June of 1944. ... we’re going to the exact spot where Gen. Joe Collins accepted the surrender of the German forces in Cherbourg who were under the command of Gen. Karl-Wilhelm von Schlieben. Definitely a place that not many people have seen.
