This is heartbreaking. It is good that it is sparsely populated there, but I do love St Marks. I hope the lighthouse survives.

Tallahassee is very much in the danger zone. At least it should avoid the dirty side of the storm. The inland wind damage will be substantial into GA.

Yes, it is. St. Marks is really in for it. Wakulla and Franklin Counties will be hit hard. So very sad. I hope everyone in St. Marks, Shell Point, Bald Point, Alligator Point, Panacea, Crawfordville, Sopchoppy, etc., got out.
Thank you again for this thread and keeping us updated!

I was just looking at some of those towns on Google Earth.
St Marks is 4 ft above sea level and right on a river that will surely back up for miles. Panacea is 5 ft above sea level.

Major Hurricane Idalia is forecast to make landfall along the Northern FL Gulf Coast, travel through Eastern GA and SC, emerging into the Atlantic around the NC/SC state line.
Major Hurricane Franklin is in the Atlantic. It will be a fish storm for the duration, with minimal impact on Bermuda.

All good. Power intact. It was a nasty feeder band as the eye passed by our latitude. Est 60mph gust.
No genny during a storm. Only after the rain/winds subside. House rules.

St Marks is very flood prone (river) anyway, and the folks there surely knew to get out. Hurricane Dennis did huge damage there in 2005, and wiped out Poseys Oyster Bar (great eats!), which had been there since the 1920s.
Michael did damage to all those places in 2018. Now it’s Idalia. So much for the “No Hurricane Coast” lately.
