Any lockdown will cause unemployment to shoot up, and force the NBER to declare the economy to be in a recession.

Sitting Presidents overseeing a recession don’t get re-elected.

Ergo, as much as They’d love to enslave folks again, they like Jill, erm, Bidet being in power.
