Leading 2024 presidential candidate and 45th President Donald Trump’s interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson on X, formerly known as Twitter, which was released during Fox News’ first GOP presidential debate, has made history as the most watched interview ever recorded.
Within 15 hours of being posted, the interview has amassed over 204 million views and that number is continuing to climb.
Trump’s interview reaching over 200 million people is record-breaking because the title of most watched interview of all time used to be held by Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Michael Jackson in 1993, which reached 62.3 million views.
Oprah’s title of the most watched interview was recently taken by internet personality Andrew Tate’s interview with Tucker Carlson in July, which reached over 107 million views.
What’s even more interesting is that during Fox News’ GOP debate, many in the audience weren’t even paying attention to the debate. Many audience members were instead watching Trump’s rival interview on their phones.

Not sure Nielsen ratings can be compared to “views,” which could last a few moments, an hour or be the same person “clicking” more than once. But an impressive number all the same. Kudos to Tucker, and curses to FauxNews.
So, two out of three Americans has watched this?
I highly doubt this.
the world is bigger than america
It popped up in my feed. I scrolled past it. That counted as a view.
Just because somebody has their TV tuned into a channel for an hour does not mean they are watching it for an hour. Lots of times our TV plays to an empty room.
A click means somebody is actually watching it when the click occurs. They might watch a few minutes, click to something else for a while, then click back.
One could make the argument clicks are a more valid measurement of actual viewer attention.
Its probably in total, you can have people at any time view the video..my uncle called last night asking me how he can view it so I told him..and tucker reaches a worldwide audience who knows where every single viewer was located..
Sure, Trump got 200 million views
But after a month-long voting season and another tortuously absurd month of counting, Joe Biden will get 200 million votes.
I'm American and live in the NE, and know a a dozen or more Canadians who follow American politics more closely than 99% of Americans do.
“the world is bigger than america”
It is, and the world is trying to stop Trump, not Biden.
...those global bosses are getting fed up with the US inability to dispatch this business man.
I’d say they are getting desparate. There’s only a couple more pages left in the playbook...
An ex TV exec posted here this morning that Nielsen counts a “viewer” as a bonafide “audience” if one watches for at least 5 minutes.
Most twitter users are outside of the U.S., so you are making an invalid assumption, but indeed, there were millions of Americans who are not active twitter users, who also watched the interview.
United States: 77.75 million active users
Japan: 58.2 million active users
India: 24.45 million active users
Brazil: 19.05 million active users
United Kingdom: 19.05 million active users
“views” is anyone scrolling past the video. And if the same person does that more than once, it is another view. Also includes those who actually did watch it who watched it more than once, and / or watched part of it and then came back later to watch other parts of it - each a separate “view.” X/Twitter is also as ubiquitous outside of the US as it is within.
That doesn’t diminish the fact enough people were interested too at least scroll past it that many times - but difficult to say it was the “most watched interview ever.” The Oprah interviews most likely involved people sitting down on the couch and people watching the whole show from start to finish. Today, it can be people sitting there casually scrolling past something while fidgeting around on the phone and may or may not even be paying that close of attention.
Or it could be bots. :-)
If you scrolled past it, which I doubt ever happened, then it didn’t count as a view.
The main Twitter video view metric is triggered when a user watches a video for at least 2 seconds and sees at least 50% of the video player in-view. This applies to View metrics for both uploaded videos and live broadcasts.

We opened an account on Twitter, so we could watch Trump and Tucker in Mexico. I think we saw a better feature..
Ah yes… there was a time when my TV would be tuned to the aforementioned FauxNews all day and night. Most of the time it was background noise that I paid little attention to.
But alas, that was long ago and far away….
