Phoenix gun donation to Ukraine could endanger city's state funding

A pair of Prescott area lawmakers have put Attorney General Kris Mayes on the clock to figure out if City of Phoenix officials broke state laws by sending up to 600 seized firearms to police forces in Ukraine.

State Reps. Quang Nguyen, R-Prescott Valley, and Selina Bliss, R-Prescott, on Monday requested a "Senate Bill 1487" investigation, named after the process's initial bill filing, from Mayes as to whether the city's decision to ship 500-600 seized firearms to the Ukrainian Arsenal of Liberty is legal.

The city approved the plan in June.

Per Arizona law, Mayes has 30 days to issue an opinion on the matter. The city risks state money if she finds it has broken state law. State funds accounted for roughly one-third of the city's total funding in the last fiscal year.

I'm having a hard time understanding how this could have been legal. Isn't there laws against trafficking guns overseas? How could Arizona officials be sure as to who exactly would be taking possession of these firearms?

Maybe FRs resident cheerleaders can chime in and tell us how this is “ok”.

I wonder how many of these guns are junk and will blow up in people’s faces?

And won’t the Arizona government (taxpayers) be liable?

Of course it is great! It disarms American citizens while simultaneously kills more Slavs overseas.

Part of the problem:

State funds accounted for roughly one-third of the city's total funding in the last fiscal year.

The Department of State has some rather strict rules about this sort of thing.

Seeing who is supporting the war in Ukraine tells you all you need to know about this Biden manufactured disaster.

Remember the Putin Price Hike?

Biden was blaming Putin for all of America's economic woes, especially inflation and high gas prices before the Russians even had a chance to top off the fuel in their M-72 tanks after they crossed the Ukraine border.

Wag the dog baby, and then open up that bottomless check book from Biden's stash.

Nothing like a huge war in the most corrupt nation in the world to spread the wealth - especially to well connected friends and family of politicians and government officials

How many US funded Ukrainian pension payments does it take to keep congressman's mistress funded in the style she wishes to be accustomed to?

Just askin’ for a friend

They’ll probably end up back on the streets of Arizona for a nice profit.

Just be happy they went Ukraine. It will take a little longer for them to be used against us.

Last time, Obama, Holder and Janet Napolitano sent Arizona's guns to the cartels in Mexico and a Border Patrol officer was murdered with one of the Fast and Furious weapons

It's a Democrat thing

It’s a safe bet that some of those guns will end up on our southern border in the hands of the cartels, unless they’re a motley collection of calibers and types of actions, which is likely the case. Criminals prefer the type of firearms that they were provided with by Obama and Eric Holder.

Interesting question.

Have you ever had a malfunction that caused injuries?
Not including return fire when you had a jam.

See it happen?

Our USMC Infantry son had a stateside malfunction with a SAW, and it took a large chunk out of his finger.

Can happen.

Are they sending shotguns with Damascus steel barrels?
Those are hanging over someone fire place.

500-600. Some wiggle room, there, at least in the reporting. A couple of the nicer specimens could disappear into someone’s closet.

there are two things necessary to Salvation ... money and gunpowder

It is only in the middle classes (referring to the professional class), Stephen, that people get into a state of dumb helpless horror when they find that there are wicked people in the world. In our class (the working class), we have to decide what is to be done with wicked people.

I haven’t seen it happen, but i do know the kind of weapons that get turned in during “cash for guns” turn-ins.

They can be the worst kind of junk.

So it wouldn’t be surprising for one to blow up in a person’s face.
