Washington — Hawaii Gov. Josh Green said Sunday he wished sirens would have alerted residents on Maui to evacuate as a wildfire quickly spread through Lahaina, calling the response by the island's now former emergency chief "utterly unsatisfactory to the world."
"Of course, as a person, as a father, as a doctor, I wish all the sirens went off," Green told "Face the Nation." "The challenge that you've heard — and it's not to excuse or explain anything — the challenge has been that historically, those sirens are used for tsunamis."
"Do I wish those sirens went off? Of course I do," he said. "I think that the answer that the emergency administrator from Maui, who's resigned, was of course utterly unsatisfactory to the world. But it is the case that that we've historically not used those kinds of warnings or fires."

Although I have no hope that it would ever happen, what's needed is a massive -- ultra massive -- electoral defeat of Democrats at all levels. It's the only way they can be pushed back.

He got elected last year because while lieutenant governor, he achieved fame as a branch covidian on socia media spewing corporate propaganda in a folksy, “in your face” manner. The low IQ masses (60% of Hawaii’s electorate) loved him after that.
And not for nothing, as a resident of the state, whenever you hear those horns, you head inland for higher ground ASAP. If those tsunami horns had been activated during a power outage (no tv, cellular, or internet) many more people would have died fleeing inland and into the fire, and the those local politicians would all be drawn and quartered alive.
The first thing they should is to take all of the electric supply underground.

When the sirens go off it traditionally means a tsunami and you should seek higher ground - which in this case would have been to run straight into the fire.

Fair point. But you’d think they’d have different blasts for different warnings.
Maybe long blasts for tsunamis, short blasts for fires.

Just on Wednesday, I read how his Excellency Josh Green said that he thought Herman Andaya the Emergency Administrator had done the right thing and he supported him all the way.
What a difference a few days make.
