Senate Republican says Trump should drop out of presidential race (Bill Cassidy... barf)
The Hill ^ | 8/20/2023 | sarah fortinsky

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) said Sunday he thinks former President Trump should drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

“I think so,” Cassidy said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” when asked whether Trump should drop out. “But obviously, that’s up to him. I mean, you’re just asking me my opinion, but he will lose to Joe Biden if you look at the current polls.”

“I’m a Republican. I think any Republican on that stage in Milwaukee will do a better job than Joe Biden. And so I want one of them to win,” Cassidy continued. “If former President Trump ends up getting the nomination, but cannot win a general, that means we’ll have four more years of policies … which I think have been deleterious to our country’s future.”

Cassidy — a Republican with a knack for working across the aisle and who was one of the seven GOP senators to vote for conviction in the second Trump impeachment trial — said he does not expect American voters to elect a convicted felon.

He also said that, of the several indictments Trump faces, the case involving Trump’s mishandling and hoarding of national security information seems “almost a slam dunk.”

This is what I don’t understand about so called “Republicans”. Dems would never admit such things to their constituents. When other democrats are in trouble they circle the wagons and fight.

The GOP is on life support. I believe if Trump is denied the nomination the party is finished as a prominent player on the national political scene with a mass exodus of people leaving it. You’re right that the Democrats stick together and our side doesn’t.

I just think at this point the party leaders in the GOP and the Republican electorate are at such odds there is no repairing the rift now. The Republican Party has stabbed its voters in the back too many times to count.

with pro-fascist, pro-deep-state, anti-MAGA, anti-Republic, anti-free-speech supporters like Senator Bill “Quisling” Cassidy, who needs Democrats?

I believe if Trump is denied the nomination.

I doubt it. Right now he has around 50% of the voters in the primaries. That should be enough to win. Others like me are reluctant to support Trump because of his electability in the general election. But apparently, that does not matter. So Trump will go down in flames, we'll have to regroup for 2028.

What makes you think we aren’t? For me 2022 was the final straw. Up to that point, I held out there was still some hope. But that’s gone now.

2024 might be the final straw for me. We'll see. I'm not optimistic so far. But I'll do my part for now.

My advice is, like in the song “Silent Running” is to teach your children quietly, so when their time comes, they can reverse all the crap that’s happening now.

He did this before without campaigning. He’ll do it again by hook or crook. Fox News poll has Biden up over Trump.

Not Biden personally - but those running the Biden campaign ran circles around the Trump campaign and crushed them. That is reality. On many media outlets the Biden campaign was ubiquitous and the Trump campaign was completely absent. Biden's campaign was targeting senior voters and those who voted third party in 2016 to feel "comfortable" with good ol' Joe unlike how they felt about Hillary. This is not even counting the fact the Democrats were already experts at "ballot harvesting" and the GOP was behind the curb. You can't win if your opponent is the only one showing up to the battlefield.

yes, indeed. Merely responding to a question you are asked point blank is the epitome of identifying the deep state. Especially the “yeah, but that’s up to him” answer...not even stealth.

It does not have to be DeSantis. I am open to whoever wins the primaries.

So, I see you are perfectly happy to support the RINO half of the UNIPARTY.

Not sure you are on the proper WEB site based on your political leanings. Some people just prefer the safety of slavery

I can say with unreserved honest and purely objective conviction, that the more I see how the democrats act...whether its responding to the worst fire in US history (Maui) or other disasters, political corruption, surges in crime, drugs, homelessness, shoplifting, mob crimes, social class/culture crisis’, gang related crime, riots...anything that is a decaying of the moral values/institutions that made the USA the greatest country in the world. The liberal left democrat party/organization supports all of it. It has morphed into an “axis of evil” that is hell bent on destroying the very moral foundations that this country was built upon to become the beacon of freedom, justice and liberty for all the world to see. The USA is being eroded from the inside by evil power centers that are determined to destroy the sovereignty and moral institutions of the USA and eventually force it to subject to a central communist/fascist style world power.
