Senate Republican says Trump should drop out of presidential race (Bill Cassidy... barf)
The Hill ^ | 8/20/2023 | sarah fortinsky

Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) said Sunday he thinks former President Trump should drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

“I think so,” Cassidy said on CNN’s “State of the Union,” when asked whether Trump should drop out. “But obviously, that’s up to him. I mean, you’re just asking me my opinion, but he will lose to Joe Biden if you look at the current polls.”

“I’m a Republican. I think any Republican on that stage in Milwaukee will do a better job than Joe Biden. And so I want one of them to win,” Cassidy continued. “If former President Trump ends up getting the nomination, but cannot win a general, that means we’ll have four more years of policies … which I think have been deleterious to our country’s future.”

Cassidy — a Republican with a knack for working across the aisle and who was one of the seven GOP senators to vote for conviction in the second Trump impeachment trial — said he does not expect American voters to elect a convicted felon.

He also said that, of the several indictments Trump faces, the case involving Trump’s mishandling and hoarding of national security information seems “almost a slam dunk.”

What about Pence and Biden’s mishandling and hoarding of national security information?

Joe Biden received 81,000,000 votes.

He did this before without campaigning. He’ll do it again by hook or crook. Fox News poll has Biden up over Trump.

(I know, I know. Every poll is fake, fraudulent, and sponsored by deep state unless the poll results support the candidate of your choice)

I agree.

I realize that polls may be BS.

But we have some historical data in the election of 2020.

And I haven't seen Trump take action to improve his standing with voters he has alienated the past couple of years.

Trump can't win the general election with his MAGA base even though it's likely that he will win the lrimaries.

At this point, voting for Trump is merely a protest vote, because we’re beyond the point of voting actually mattering.

One of McConnell’s most dependable RINOs, like Mitt, Tim Scott, Lisa Murkowski, and Roger Wicker.

And how exactly does Ron DeSantis expand his voting base if he’s going to lose most of the Trump voters if he’s the nominee? Give it up. DeSantis would get absolutely slaughtered in the general election, cheating or not.

He’s a RINO:

My last vote for a Republican is for President Trump.

After that, the Pubbies can go find a rope to relieve themselves up.

It does not have to be DeSantis. I am open to whoever wins the primaries.

The Democrats stick together and they support their eventual nominee. We should do the same.

And not pull a "Perot".

Another sleaze ball RINO who used Trump to get reelected in 2020 and then stabbed everyone in the back by certifying the Big Steal. These guys are the poster children for why Senators should only have four year terms.

If these do nothing, know nothings actually succeed in removing him from the ballot. Just write him in. Forces hand counting instead of dominion hijinks.

If it came to that, then that's fine. But I don't think we're at that point yet.
