A Tucson, Arizona, woman took matters into her own hands by shooting and killing a registered sex offender who attempted to break into her home, according to reports.
FOX 10 in Phoenix reported that the incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on Aug. 11 at a home near Garvey and Pyle Roads.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said a 54-year-old woman was home alone, when 42-year-old Jayson Magrum allegedly tried to break into her home.
The woman saw what was happening and started yelling for Magrum to leave, but he reportedly continued to gain access to the home.
"The female armed herself with a handgun and fired a shot out of a window to attempt to scare the male away," investigators said.

I read the entire article. Warning shots are a waste of ammo. Center of mass until threat is eliminated. She needs more training. EOS
.
What about fully automatic guns?
What is their legal status in AZ?
I remember about 30 years ago I went to a gun range north of Phoenix.
All of us were happily practicing hitting our targets, when some guy
on the the right end of the firing line made his presence known
by opening up with full auto. No mistaking that sound!
Hopefully most of the blood ended up in the driveway so she didn’t have a lot to clean up closer to the home. Easier to hose it off the driveway.
Nothing of value was lost.
A little good news for a change!
As far as I know, full auto is legal to own and shoot in Arizona, if you’ve satisfied the federal requirements. I don’t know of any state registration, but I can’t say there’s none either. I don’t own any full-auto stuff, too expensive.
Warning shots are a waste of ammo. Yes. And time. Time is very valuable in a situation like that. Shoot to stop the threat and include a couple more to make sure.
Burn in hell, pervert.
Prayers up for that woman. I am sure this will be difficult for her even though her shooting was justified.
Once these guys get started, they can’t stop. Same with child molesters. Chemical castration might help.
You are correct on that - I don't own any either.
And thank you for responding to my question!
You are most welcome.
What shotgun?
Deputize her.
Oops
The story says handgun very clearly.
But about that warning shot.
Two serious reason not to in this state. Prosecutors have been known to present to a jury the theory that if you were truly afraid for your life, you would not fire a warning shot. Therefore self defense as a defense was put in jeopardy.
But I have an even better reason for no warning shot.
With any semi auto today, no matter how good or expensive, you may get only one shot. A bad primer, a bad magazine, or a mechanical failure may stop that second shot. I know there are some that can Clara a semi in an eye blink, but you may not even have that much time.
And I have had jams that took tools to clear.
That first cartridge may be the only one you get.
For that reason, though I have several semi autos ranging from very good to the best there is (in my opinion), I favor revolvers.
Contrary to all of the statements by the keyboard cowboys, revolvers cn also lock up , but it is really a rare thing.
GOOD!
One feel good story in a day of otherwise depressing headlines.
Yep. Anything can fail, at the most inopportune time.
You *DO* however need to be registered to concealed carry. Or, at least last time I was there...
That is likely the idiot reporter’s basis for the “registered” nonsense.
