More than likely it downgrades to a TS and goes up the Gulf of California into the SoCal deserts/mountains. This always happens this time of year.

Hillary is a large storm and some models peak it out mid CAT 4 over the above average Sea Temps
However sea temps SW of CA are normal (cold)
And of course it will waken by they time it hits CA
It will be moving fast so it will likely still be a tropical storm when/if it hits CA
I believe a tropical system hit San Diego once in the 1949’s???
Hurricane Linda around the year 2000 was the most powerful Storm recorded in eastern PAC at the time , it was forecast to hit CA in a Weaken state at one point but moved out to sea instead
nail down the china or that will be the first thing missing when the hag hits the coast..
