A search warrant that cleared the way for the raid of a Kansas newspaper last Friday has been withdrawn, according to Scripps News Kansas City.
Marion County Attorney Joel Ensey withdrew the warrant that served as the basis for the raid of the Marion County Record, conducted by the Marion Police Department. Looks like there will be a wrongful death lawsuit in the making.
Can they bring grandma back to life?
I haven’t been keeping up with this but the scuttlebutt is they were investigating the sheriff for misdeeds? Any truth to that?
My understanding is there were accusation of sexual misconduct at his last place of employment.
The newspaper was investigating buried DUI charges against a local businesswoman seeking an alcohol sales license. We haven’t heard the last of this story.
The police chief whose “Gestapo”-style raid on a small town newspaper has become the focus of national outrage was being investigated by its reporters over claims of alleged sexual misconduct.
They also raided the home of the editor and publisher, Eric Meyer, and his 98-year-old mother Joan Meyer, the paper’s co-owner.
She died the following day of “shock and grief,” ... the newspaper had been investigating Cody, 54, after receiving an “outpouring of calls” claiming he had retired from his last police post to avoid demotion over sexual misconduct allegations.

They got all the info they needed.
I don’t think judges even read PC forms, they just rubber stamp every warrant.
Oh good. So did that bring the 98 year old woman back to life?
What did they do with the pictures they took of his financial records?
A little late for that now. And, how will the judge know if they actually return everything? Also, the owner is still dead due to the police officers’ illegal actions.
They don’t. If they read them, they would see the lies in them. The Judge, Prosecutor, and Police all work on the same side. It is “us” against “them”. It is a game they play and getting to the truth is the least of their worries.
Everyone involved in writing and executing the warrant should be rotting in jail, including the judge that signed the warrant. Of course, nothing will happen to anyone.
No ... they can imprison the thugs who killed her, though ...
And that should include the judge who issued the defective warrant
Jail? I’m thinking a good horse whipping followed by a nice hanging is in order here.
I’ll hold my breath for that moment.
After what faggots are doing nowadays, there could not possibly be such a thing as "sexual misconduct"..
The old adage comes to mind, never start a fight with someone that buys ink by the barrel.
