DeSantis, Pence Net Image Ratings Crash on Same Trajectory in 2023: AP Survey

Both Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) and former Vice President Mike Pence’s (R) net image ratings have crashed since jumping into the presidential ring, a recent AP-NORC survey found.

DeSantis has seen his net image rating essentially collapse among all voters — a trend that accelerated exponentially throughout his presidential campaign.

In July 2021, for example, DeSantis saw a net image rating of -3, as 30 percent viewed him at least somewhat unfavorably compared to 27 percent who had a favorable view. That gap reached -10 in October 2022 and -14 in April 2023, one month prior to announcing his presidential bid — a move he teased for months.

His net image rating remained stable at -14 through June but took a nosedive the following months, now standing at-24, as 53 percent view him at least somewhat unfavorably compared to 29 percent who have a favorable view. That dip coincides with the governor’s campaign scrambling to reassure donors that it has a plan to boost the governor’s standings in the polls, sending out a confidential memo outlining its strategy to focus on early primary states rather than Super Tuesday states.

Over the summer, the DeSantis campaign also laid off dozens of staffers, and the presidential hopeful replaced his campaign manager as his steep decline accelerated in the polls, even dropping to third place in some recent surveys, as former President Donald Trump predicted would happen.

Pence has experienced a similar decline. He saw a -6 net image rating in April 2023, as most, 51 percent, had an at least somewhat unfavorable view, compared to 45 percent who had an at least somewhat favorable view. That grew to -9 in June and swelled to -29 in

Look at the damage RdS has done to himself. One year ago he was universally liked by conservatives. I would have voted for him. Then he fell for the siren song of the Uniparty dollars. Now he finds himself lumped in with the pariah of the conservatives. A sad tale.

Over all net negatives for these guys? Makes for a tough campaign if so many view someone badly.

$25m in despicable attack ads from Trump (from the left!) can drive down positives, even for Desantis. However, DeSantis can recover; the same AP poll shows 53% of the electorate would never vote for Trump under any circumstances.

Whereas Trump might be inclined to pile on more trashy ads against Desantis, I don’t expect that since his campaign funds are being redirected to cover his massive legal expenses.

If they don’t feel any loyalty to Trump, they won’t feel any loyalty to us.

He can recover? He had one chance, his Uniparty/Soros kangaroo court lottery ticket. That ticket seems to have been revoked. RdS has gone from second runner to also ran. I think even the Uniparty is moving on from him.

How are those sour grapes?

While DeSantos was playing coy with his duplicitous “shadow campaign”the Orange Man was defining his greatest primary foil.

But that isn’t why the DeSantis campaign is treading water, he can look in the mirror for that answer.

Pence is so dumb. All he had to do was to state on Jan 6th that we need to look into if certain states validated their results properly and listen respectfully to the objections.

What may have worked too would have one of these GOPers talk to the crowd and be a leader. But since they are all cowards that didn't happen either.

>> Look at the damage RdS has done to himself.

I suspect his Florida successes were permitted to happen while every other state suffered the COVID tyranny. It help to relieve the national desperation and gave people hope (Art of War), and while incubating a new “GOP leader” to replace Trump. The Florida GOP 2022 election victories were off the charts compared to the deflated national Blue Wave. The Biden regime should have been destroyed in 2022, but only FL prevailed. Seeing DeSantis on the national stage strips away the FL illusions.

I have no ill feelings for DeSantis. But I think he needs to mature in his independence and become more politically battle-hardened.

It’s amazing how the Only Trump group links DeSantis to Soros. If you’ve been paying attention recently, you would know that DeSantis has fired some Soros DAs in Florida for failure to prosecute criminals.

In any event, DeSantis will have a great opportunity to define himself before the nation during next week’s debate.

Problem is when that deliberation was happening, the mob was going in the front door. These guys value their skins more than anything else. Once they thought that was threatened, they all folded.

Who doesn't love a spectacle? Who looks away from a car crash? When a crash is more spectacular it tends draw more attention. Scores of people that can read a room told y'all who can't read a room not to do this with DeSantis but y'all knew better. DeSantis knew better because scores of people told him so. The GOPe knew better because scores of people told them so. It's Darwinian watching y'all teetering on the ledge when you've been advised not to do so. That's not y'all living rent free in our heads. That's y'all performing a SNL skit for the rest of US.

The folks who told DeSantis to run, did it to take out both Trump and DeSantis.

And apparently, it worked. Bridges have been burned on both sides.

DeSantis knew better because scores of people told him so.

Scores of people know that Trump has no chance. You can be mad, and aim your vengeance at DeSantis, as Trump supporters have done, but it won't change that fact. So you probably sunk our second best chance at wining, out of spite. Congratulations! You just earned the "I don't care about anything but Trump" award!

Bad attempt at deflection. RdS had one chance from the beginning, the Uniparty/Soros kangaroo courts taking Trump out. Do you deny the Soros funded hack in NYC is prosecuting Trump? Do you deny the Uniparty courts in DC and Georgia are trying to take Trump out? That’s the only point I was making.

Not so.

Just the DeSanctimonious Online Influencers.

And that is mostly because they really, really, really hope, in defiance of the reality of the polls (that show DeSantis losing badly to Biden) that DeSantis can win.

This is mostly wishful thinking on the part of DeSanctimonious supporters.

I doubt most here saw any of them, but we did learn, from his mouth, that he is ANTI-MAGA, no different than Pence or the others (with the exception of Vivek).

If he wasn’t already tied or leading Biden, you claim might have some credibility here...
