Look at the damage RdS has done to himself. One year ago he was universally liked by conservatives. I would have voted for him. Then he fell for the siren song of the Uniparty dollars. Now he finds himself lumped in with the pariah of the conservatives. A sad tale.

$25m in despicable attack ads from Trump (from the left!) can drive down positives, even for Desantis. However, DeSantis can recover; the same AP poll shows 53% of the electorate would never vote for Trump under any circumstances.

Whereas Trump might be inclined to pile on more trashy ads against Desantis, I don’t expect that since his campaign funds are being redirected to cover his massive legal expenses.

I suspect his Florida successes were permitted to happen while every other state suffered the COVID tyranny. It help to relieve the national desperation and gave people hope (Art of War), and while incubating a new “GOP leader” to replace Trump. The Florida GOP 2022 election victories were off the charts compared to the deflated national Blue Wave. The Biden regime should have been destroyed in 2022, but only FL prevailed. Seeing DeSantis on the national stage strips away the FL illusions.

I have no ill feelings for DeSantis. But I think he needs to mature in his independence and become more politically battle-hardened.
