The U.S. Navy decommissioned the littoral combat ship (LCS) USS Sioux City (LCS 11) on Monday after less than five years in service.
The Freedom-variant LCS was built by Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wisconsin, and commissioned November 17, 2018, at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

“That said, the problems with these things are such that they amount to negative military value.”
Ok, then give it to Russia :)

Plus the weapon system it was designed to utilize against coastal submarine intrusions is crapped out so it is without a mission.

I'm reading Clay Blair's
Silent Victory right now. I'm still in early 1942 and the boat skippers are starting to see the problems with duds and torpedoes running at the wrong depth.
The US Navy Bureau of Ordinance was one of the best friends the Imperial Japanese Navy ever had...
As far as the LCS are concerned, cut your losses and see if the Coast Guard can find a use for them. Assuming the Coasties will even take them.

I would have gladly traded the Alaska’s for getting the last two Iowa’s (Kentucky & Illinois) finished. Similar sized crews, better ships.

I knew these ships were designed to fail when I saw a documentary bragging them up and witness the Caption and XO helping the crew polish the deck. Not a war ship a socialist haven.

I will take admiral level pension or the fee for decommissioning the ship.

In the photo I do not see any weapons except a small gun.
What use is then except as a target for the enemy?
