More than half of Americans surveyed said they would not support former President Trump in the 2024 general election if he is the Republican nominee, according to a new poll.
The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll released Wednesday found that 53 percent of Americans said they would definitely not support Trump if he was the nominee. Another 11 percent saying that they would probably not support him.
----
Opposition to President Biden is not as strong as it is for Trump, with just 43 percent of Americans saying that would definitely not vote for him in 2024. Another 11 percent said they probably would not.
To quote myself, “They do pile on ...”
One poll is not dispositive. However, ask yourself why Trump can’t get above 50% with Republican primary voters. For someone who’s been a Republican president as well as declared candidate for the better part of a year, he still hasn’t persuaded half of all Republican primary voters to support him.
This is all being orchestrated by the evil Left to discourage and demoralize those on the Right. Don’t fall for it. We were told Trump could never win in 2016, yet he did. He also won re-election in 2020.
Poll was conducted in Berkeley evidentlg
The Hill is just setting up the ‘Rat landslide of manufactured votes they know is coming. Also, hoping to scare off Trump supporters, just in case the ‘Rats can’t manufacture as many votes as needed.
Correlation is not causation, that Trump is not over 50% at this time can show equally as well that republican voters are careful critical thinkers, letting the process play out for the best candidate.
The other way to look at it is a non-sitting presidential candidate has the largest primary support ever seen leading up to the primaries.
Why should your opinion be any more valid than the one I just made up explaining trumps primary support?
Romney was my last “lesser of two evils” vote. I’ll never vote for another republican if Trump isn’t on the ballot.
So the brain prep begins. Tell the people a lie often enough and they will believe it.
Trump can’t win - more the 1/2 of voters don’t want Trump. Trump is a criminal.
Trump eats babies for breakfast.
Trump hates Jews.
Trump is a misogynist,
Trump is a Russian agent,
Trump never paid taxes....
Most Americans are not deeply into politics. I would guess most Republicans aren’t watching Bannon, Real America’s Voice, or any of the other Trump acolytes who are swirling around hoping to get back into government in another Trump administration. Lots of Republicans aren’t sycophants worshipping at the Trump shrine. And they aren’t RINOs, either.
Maybe they’ll look at a guy who’s almost 80 years old, who apparently spends most of his waking hours rehashing the past, nursing grudges, plotting his revenge, and dreaming up new smears and insults for his opponents. Maybe Republicans are getting tired of it.
As one commentator put it, Trump seems to go around stepping on every land mine that his enemies have laid for him. Jan. 6 was only one example—he Tweeted that the protest he was calling his followers to in Washington would be “wild.” So, the Democrats laid the trap and Trump fell right into it. The whole thing was a set-up and now dozens sit in jail rotting for years and the Democrats are laughing their heads off at how dumb and gullible Trump and his toadies were.
Trump is unelectable. The Democrats will push Biden aside and will install Newsom as the nominee. Low information voters will be impressed—a fresh, new face! And how will Republicans respond? With the same old Trump with all his baggage? Republicans who think this is a viable scenario are delusional.
Poll Trump has no chance if winning.
2016
All the media data in use.
Padded pole = fake news propaganda
If Trump wins again, he is going to fire every department head in every agency as well as every federal prosecutor.
And replace them with who?
Ronna McRomney? Trump seems to be a fan of her.
It’s not my opinion that in poll after poll 50% of Republican voters support another candidate.
Victory lies in preventing corrupt rigged elections in the swing states.
Nothing else will work.
OH, YEAH, THE ASS PRESS COMES OUT FOR SOCIALISM/COMMUNISIM/FASCISM....WHAT A SURPRISE.
Well we *DO* want him back in the white house for another four years. He is the best president of my lifetime, and I include Ronald Reagan in that.
Also, we need him to undertake a revenge campaign against all the corrupt officials in the government and the corrupt state election people.
Yes, many FReepers are emotional instead of practical where Trump is concerned. And as the demographic of FReepers is skewing ever older,I think some of Trump’s support is just low-T curmudgeonly cheerleading: “Go Trump!” “He fights!” and my personal favorite, “SuperTrump is playing 4D chess!” It’s mindless bravado, because they’re scared of what the country is becoming.
They hate the establishment and see Trump as their weapon against it, without stopping to ask themselves when was the last time Trump won anything. For the reality-challenged, that would be 7 years ago. Since then the deep state has bent Trump over repeatedly and will continue to bend him over until they break him. That’s reality, something that is often in short supply here.
But say that out loud here and you’ll be accused of being everything but a decent human being. So be it.
The democrats have set Donald up perfectly. They know that by making him the nominee, they stand the best chances of winning big in ‘24. They know that he has a solid base that will sweep him to the nomination. But that base will not likely expand...and that it will not have coattails.
I haven’t read the indictment in GA yet, and I haven’t expressed an opinion on it. I do think that it’s dangerous for local county DAs to get entangled in this stuff. I also think it’s a joke to indict someone for something they think or said—especially if it is not in their jurisdiction.
The clumsy way this DA has driven this week’s events reinforces my perception of local county DAs as political wannabes and usually incompetent. The clerical “error” on Monday afternoon just screams that these people are nothing more than a comedy show—with some scary power.
I simply think it’s important to look at all of these polls with a skeptical eye. I spent years doing focus groups and reading surveys. One of the things that was important during that process was to make sure the information you are getting is accurate AND to deal with the issues—not try to explain away “why” the respondents did not understand what they felt.
People are going to feel what they feel—and that is the target. If they don’t feel the way you want them to, you need to work on your messagings and determine what could change their mind. Any poll suggesting 2/3 of the respondents are not likely to buy the product—even if the poll has flaws—doesn’t bode well for success.
I don’t like Trump. Not gonna vote for him.
—He is too old.
—He would be a lame duck on Day 1.
—He is likely to lose Congress.
—He becomes the target, instead of national issues.
—He won’t be able to attract good people for his cabinet/He is a horrible personnel manager.
—He is a “debt” guy. We need a fiscal conservative.
So much winning.
Total Bullshit. Watch the rallies.
That is but one indication of how generally unpopular the man is
