Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that he would be open to using drone strikes against Mexican drug cartels if he’s elected president.
“We will absolutely reserve the right if they’re invading our country and killing our people,” DeSantis said when a voter asked whether he would be willing to use drones against the cartels.
Asked later by NBC News to clarify, DeSantis said: “I said I would use whatever force we need to defend the country.
“We’d be willing to lean in against them, and we reserve the right to defend our country,” he added.
DeSantis has been leaning hard into immigration as a theme in his presidential campaign, pushing to the right to distinguish himself from former President Donald Trump.
In June, DeSantis endorsed the use of “deadly force” against migrants suspected of trafficking drugs. He reiterated the policy again Thursday as he spoke to a crowd of more than 150 voters in a packed restaurant here.
“We’re authorizing deadly force. They try to break into our country? They will end up stone-cold dead,” he said to a rousing round of applause.
In a recent interview, DeSantis discussed how he would distinguish between migrants who are smuggling drugs and those who aren’t.

I hear ya. That’s all possible.
As I said to someone else just now, we either get our act
together or our citizens will have the same exact problems
the Mexican do now. The cartels...
Yeah, Mexican presidents generally do have a big mouth, but
when it comes to cleaning up their act so the average
Mexican can live a decent life, they can’t be bothered.
Yes, I agree.
Good campaign rhetoric.
Beats the Hell out of screaming in the middle of the night on Social Media at enemies.
The fact is, AMLO protects the cartels.
Nuke cartels from orbit, you are nuking AMLO.
He is open. In other words, it won’t happen
It is what Trumpaholics do.
DeSantis will never be POTUS. You’re FRee to keep chasing your tail.
The source of fentanyl, the drug that is killing so many people, is Red China. The Mexican cartels are in cahoots with the CCP, which is essentially a large Mafia that runs China. The CCP is using fentanyl in the way the British and French used opium two centuries ago: as a tool to subvert national independence. The cartels control local governments in places like Phoenix. Chinese money lines the pockets of politicians from Biden on down. Can DeSantis or even Trump break this chain of corruption?
You don’t like it when someone challenges your over the top Trump narrative do you?
You're no challenge to anything Trump or his supporters slick.
Look little dump you have to take criticism if you are going to blindly follow someone who is going to be locked up
Is that all you got? Weak sauce.
Patton led about a dozen men on a “foraging expedition” looking for food. They ran across some of Villa’s men, and shooting commenced. When Patton and his men returned, they had bodies strapped to their cars. https://www.wearethemighty.com/mighty-history/patton-leads-first-armor-attack/
Patton was a very tough guy—not just an image he developed.
I’m lucky to have visited his museum a few times and the kid/man was well versed in all sorts of fighting.
Expert pistol marksman (and rifle )
Sword Duelist—Olympic caliber (the USA still uses the Sabre design he created in Olympic sports…or did)
Owned his first weapon at some ridiculous age like 5-6
He personally killed more bandits/revolutionaries than the rest of his entire large squad under his command.
It depends on national will power.
It won’t be easy, but that wall and the enforcement implied
goes a long way toward helping.
The scene in the movie “PATTON” where he shot at a German aircraft with a pocket pistol (looked like a Colt .380 or .32) always made me smile. From what I can find on the net, it probably didn’t really happen, but it seems like something he would do. The man had guts, that is for sure. I did basic training at Fort Knox (1969). Didn’t know his museum was there, or I would have checked it out then. If I find myself near there again, I will visit for sure.
His comments on communism/USSR at the end of ww2 were very interesting.
Some say he was assassinated because of them (by the kgb when he was in a hospital recovering from a car wreck).
