Should have closed up shop after Buckley passed away, At least he was funny , intelligent and a Christian.
Modern National Review is none of those things.

True. But it was Bill Buckley himself who handed over his magazine to Rich Lowrey and the rest of that ilk.

Some say that the person who actually made National Review great during its prime was another Buckley, his sister Priscilla.

Priscilla was the managing editor of National Review for many years. And when she retired from her post in 1991 the magazine began its decline.

I’d probably agree. I was a subscriber from 1976 to maybe 1991. I once found it worth reading cover to cover. But in the first Bush years it seemed to become more of a shill for RNC policies than the thoughtful conservative magazine I had once found it. It’s only gotten worse over the years.
