Hunter Biden's attorney said Sunday a trial is "not inevitable" following the collapse of a proposed plea deal, and he does not expect new charges to be brought against his client by special prosecutor David Weiss.
Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday elevated Weiss, the U.S. attorney in Delaware, to special counsel after a proposed plea deal between President Joe Biden's son and the Justice Department fell through in court on July 26.
Weiss has been probing Hunter Biden for alleged tax fraud and illegal firearm possession.
Attorney Abbe Lowell told "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan that he's "confident that if this prosecutor does what has been done for the last five years," there will be no new charges.
"There's no new evidence to be found," Lowell told Brennan. "Some of these transactions are years old. They've had people in the grand jury. They've had data that was provided to them.

REALITY CHECK-——Breitbart politics editor Emma-Jo Morris said Weiss should “recuse himself” from investigating Hunter Biden’s business dealings after Weiss already negotiated Hunter’s original “sweetheart” plea deal whereby Hunter agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax violations and enter into a diversion program for a felony gun charge, keeping him out of jail.
The plea deal fell through last month when U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika refused to accept specific provisions within the agreement........an agreement so meager, it did not even meet the ‘limited hangout’ plea.... its original intent.
Just the News editor-in-chief John Solomon added that IRS whistleblowers “exposed” the braindead Weiss for his “interference” in the Hunter Biden case and for his stupidly “letting the statute of limitations expire on much more serious Biden offenses.”
The “brand” was then-VP Joe Biden, and the political clout that he could wield, for the Biden family’s “friends.”
In fact, Hunter Biden allegedly patched in his father on conference calls with overseas business associates...... and once tried to coerce a Chinese businessman to resolve a payment dispute by claiming that Joe Biden was sitting next to him and would make the Chinese debtor “regret” failing to pay up.
Seems Hunter’s running a Mafioso protection racket using his dad’s political clout...... woe be to you if you dont pay up.
Joe himself “strongarmed” Burisma’s prosecutor, threatening to withhold billions in mandated tax dollars if he wasnt prevented from investigating Hunter’s corruption.
DUH!! The FIX IS IN!!

Weiss is PURE EVIL!
That is not too surprising given that Weiss and Hunter’s lawyer are not adversaries. In fact, they are on the same team.
He might get 15 days in jail and a small fine.
Delaware’s prosecutor Weiss (now special counsel) isnt too bright.
He is the one who concocted the sweetheart plea deal for Hunter,
that was kiboshed after presented for the court’s consideration.
Weiss’ plea deal was so meager that it did not even reach
the level of a ‘limited hangout’ (which seems to be its original intent).
A “limited hangout” is a public relations scam in which a
guilty perp who wants to cover up a major crime will admit
to a very small portion of the crime in order to claim that
the issue has been put to rest.
Then why bother with the sham appointment?
Is he saying the special prosecutor will have nothing new to discover?
How does a defendant get to do that?
Why can’t Trump?
Well of course they wouldn’t. Weiss is part of the Biden Defense Team.
This is most likely a warning. Tyrants rule by terror and intimidation.
From what I’ve heard, he is dragging it out until the statute of limitations runs out.
This is the direct response to the judge tossing the blanket immunity they tried to sneak into his plea deal. They just say 'F it, we'll just never charge him with anything." Immunity achieved.
Of course they have to fear a surprise winner in the next election that ... HAH HAH HAH! oh I crack myself up! Silly me, they took care of all that in 2020! No more worries there!
