50,000 deaths and the Ukrainian counteroffensive hasn't even reached the first line of Russian defense.

You have better chance of walking on the moon and I've got a better chance of dunking on LeBron James than Ukraine has of getting to Crimea.

Ukraine will never reach the first line of Russian defense. All annexed territory will be part of the Russian Federation as long as anyone reading this is breathing.

As if the NYT even knows what "tactically significant" means.

What a joke. Just a sad, pathetic, bloody joke.

What are the Ukrainians going to do if they cut off Crimea but lose Karkiv or have Russians on the Dnipro.... The Ukrainians have limited manpower.... they may get money by the boatload and weapon systems/ammo/supplies for the next century but without men to use them...... what?

Russian is now shown that it is willing and able to pour men and material into a war of attrition. So we have two sides willing to kill their young men for land.

What in all of Russian history and culture makes anyone believe that they will "come to their senses and stop"? Unless Putin is overthrown by a CIA plant or a mole.... the next guy up (and it will be a "guy" not just a person that 'identifies as a guy') is going to be some Machiavellian psychopath that survived in that snake pit of Russian power/politics.

This isn't a good guy versus bad guy story....... this is a bad guy versus a bad guy story. Follow the money fellas.... look who will make out like "bandits" with reconstruction and what Ukraine doesn't even realize that the money we are "giving them" is going to have to be paid back........ how?

How much of that valuable farmland and devastated Eastern Ukraine are they going to "lease" back from the new owners in Blackrock, Vanguard, United States/EU countries... cause NOTHING IS FREE.

This is the weirdest war ever. It’s proceeding like World War I, yet with space age technology all around it.

This is Japan in Manchuria 1931. It took ten years for that spark to turn into WWII.

You really are a Venkman. You’re new, so you’re suspicious of people who have been here since the beginning?

But that’s the logic of the Ukraine haters.

I’ve heard the opposite, that a lot of Putin lovers signed up during the first Russian invasion of Ukraine.

That at least makes sense.

When did you sign up again?

This explains their recent uptick in attacks on the Kerch bridge as well. Cut off Crimea. Wishing them great success.

And from Washington Post:

UKRAINIANS BEGIN TO DESPAIR AS BLOODY COUNTEROFFENSIVE YIELDS SMALL GAINS
by Kyle Anzalone | Aug 10, 2023
According to the Washington Post, many citizens of Ukraine are adopting a darker mood about the war with Russia, and national unity is beginning to fray. The change in sentiment comes as Kiev’s spring counteroffensive fails to retake significant territory despite surging casualties.
“Ukrainians, much in need of good news, are simply not getting any,” the Washington Post reported Thursday. One Ukrainian, Alla Blyzniuk, interviewed by the outlet, said, “[before] people were united.” Now, she described, a sense of collective “disappointment.”
The sense of despair is driven by massive casualties in Kiev’s counteroffensive. Blyzniuk said that most soldiers sent to the front die in just two to three days. Last week, Politico reported that Kiev had committed 150,000 troops to fight along three fronts. Nevertheless, the Pentagon admits that Ukrainian forces have failed to make any significant gains.
Washington publicly claims it has provided Kiev with everything Ukraine needs to wage a successful counteroffensive. However, Western officials admitted to the Wall Street Journal that Ukrainian forces lacked critical equipment. “When Ukraine launched its big counteroffensive this spring, Western military officials knew Kyiv didn’t have all the training or weapons—from shells to warplanes—that it needed to dislodge Russian forces.” The report continued, “But they hoped Ukrainian courage and resourcefulness would carry the day. They Haven’t.”
Anna Oliinyk, a Ukrainian soldier, told the Post that she hoped the losses would be worth the price. “We’ve got all these guys coming back from the front line without limbs,” she said. “I want the price they paid to be reasonable. Otherwise it’s just useless, what they went through.”
Anna’s husband, a Ukrainian soldier who lost a leg, told the Post he would not enlist if he could make the choice again, adding that Kiev is sending untrained soldiers to the front lines. “They are taking everyone and sending them to the front line without proper preparation,” he said. “I don’t want to be in the company of unmotivated people.”

So who is the liar - could it just possibly be NYT?

Or, could all of this just be shabby propaganda so all FReepers will support giving Joe Biden some more Billions to grift with Zelinsky?

Blessed are the peacemakers. This Ukraine violence needs to come to an end. The border the USA needs to enforce now is its own border with Mexico. So far, Joe Biden has added 7 MILLION illegal alien invaders in our country.

You’ve missed the point entirely. This is either purposeful diversion on your part or your inability to understand subtleties because English is not your native language. What are you warmongers going to do when Ukraine surrenders and disappears into Russia and Poland? Will you continue to whine about it or will you change your name and disappear?

Why anyone would listen to fantasizers like you about issues of war and peace is beyond me.

You obviously did not read the Washington Post link either, which is also senseless propaganda, just like every lie you post here, especially from NYT sources.

Perhaps you are unaware that the NYT and WAPO are organs of the Joe Biden Administration intelligence apparatus - they probably don’t teach that to conservative forum infiltrators in fed-contractor social media school!

And lo and behold, the two intel agency influenced newspapers have completely different propaganda in the same week. Hmmm.

Looking forward to your next Zotting.

There’s about 5 here that are just one topic posters.

It’s very odd that the only concern an actual American has is Ukraine.
I understand that some people would side with Ukraine, but to only post on the topic is beyond suspicious.

So it’s purposeful diversion then. You’re trying to get people to listen to you about war and peace and I’m criticising your technique for doing that. You’re the one who defensively jumped into the conversation about propagandists. Hit a sore nerve there, eh? By the way, ALL CAPS is a sign you’ve lost control of yourself.
