The US military has been struggling to recruit new members for years. I have reported on this various times and noted that the computer predicts that a US draft may be approved on September 29, 2024. This date marks 51.6 years from the precise day that President Richard Nixon ended the draft on January 27, 1973.
The US military is already discussing the prospect of a “limited draft.” They are seeking 160,000 eligible people from a population of 30 million. The all-volunteer force has reached a “breaking point,” as Military.com put it, and the most effective way to solve the crisis is to force the youth into service.
The military is now throwing around the idea of dedicating one month per year to recruiting a Selected Service to meet the annual recruitment goal. Numerous countries ask all citizens to sign up for some type of service when they come of age. The US military never had the need for such a service as patriotism was high, and each branch offered numerous incentives to join.
Military drafts or “conscription” date back to ancient times in Mesopotamia. The United States instituted a draft or conscription during the Civil War, which led to a series of bloody draft riots. Resistance to the draft, as managed by the Selective Service in the United States, reached a historic peak during the Vietnam War.
Every branch of the US military besides the Marine Corps has failed to meet their recruitment goals. We are low on ammo, as the commander-in-chief pointed out, and soldiers. The problem is two-fold. No one wants to enlist, and the number of young Americans who would actually qualify has reached a record low. A 2022 poll showed that only 9% of those eligible want to join the military, a major decrease from 29% in recent years. Over half of the respondents (57%) were worried that they would suffer psychological damage from serving. A more recent poll from May 2023 indicates only 13% of 18 to 29-year-olds are “highly willing” to serve.
The last generation had the hot topic issue of 9/11, terrorism, and protecting their country’s freedom. This generation has been raised in classrooms where they sit for the pledge of allegiance and are taught that their country is inherently bad. They watched the Commander in Chief abandon their mission in Afghanistan and continually disrespect members of the military. Not to mention the military fired servicemembers who declined to take the experimental vaccine.
One proposed solution was to offer citizenship to illegal immigrants who enlisted. Since top government agents are unable to define women, expect everyone to be targeted.
The US military could go into a hybrid model of recruiting new soldiers. War is coming either way. September 29, 2024, would be shortly before the next US presidential election. That, too is right on target, as the only possible way for Biden to stay in power would be to forego a real election process.

Current military leadership in the senior enlisted and officer ranks are not equipped to train draftees.
We have a hard enough time as it is dealing with the malcontents who freely volunteered. Often, we just open the door and let them wash out. It's not worth the effort. These service members are bad for unit cohesion and a risk to lives and expensive equipment.
Imagine dealing with draftees who absolutely don't want to be there at all? "F*** you, Sarge! I didn't sign up for this!"
The only way to do this effectively would be to administer swift, brutal corporal punishment, like the Russians do. The American public would not tolerate this and senior leadership, all of whom volunteered for service, would be reluctant to administer this kind of discipline for fear of reprisals.

I find it hard to believe that people will go for a draft these days as the democrats have spent sixty years sneering at the very idea of traditional patriotism.
In the very very very small chance one was reinstituted, it sure isn't going to be 1 month before a presidential election, with all of the House and 1/3 of the Senate up for vote. That definitely ain't happnin'.
Cannot even imagine the nightmare of trying to work with draftees from a woke generation that is traumatized by pronouns….

A limited draft would be worse than useless. By the time the draftees learn how to put on their uniforms, it will be time for them to get out.
I'm in my 70s, so the military would only want me when the Russki tanks are rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue and they are handing out panzerfausts to the women and children.
Only Gen Z would be in the 18-24 age range, and most of them voted for Biden.
Of those in the 18-24 age range, the majority would not qualify for military service.
I don't discount Armstrong, and I think that this would be very interesting to watch happen. I think it might well backfire on the Democrats.

I'm not so sure. A full-on propaganda campaign conducted through state-run media and tech would convince a lot of statist and woke parents to push kids to sign up.
Also, I imagine illegal immigrants will be signed up as well. Lincoln did something similar in the Civil War.
First, all the people and all of their family members from 16 years old to 85, who want war with Russia/China/anywhere get drafted!...

Absolutely ZERO way they will enforce any of the laws and/or penalties regarding the draft, no matter what the law or anyone on here says.
Liberal lawyers will be lining up to defend kids that don’t show up. And the ones that do will simply state Conscientious Objector status and that will be it.
As I count it, the US has been involved in 32 wars/military actions since the end of WW2 - and that doesn't include Ukraine.
That there will be a war has been a safe bet for 70+ years.
Why would any decent patriotic Christian American want to join the military? Today’s Armed Forces are led by deviants and rife with sexual perversion, and if you join, you may be punished for expressing an opinion contrary to the military’s woke agenda. And besides, who wants to risk dying in one of our endless, no-win wars?
