These UNTRUTHs are epically at odds with the spirit of the candidate’s platform and cry out for correction.
(LifeSiteNews) — The GOP presidential hopeful who kicked off his campaign with a declaration of 10 foundational TRUTHs beginning with “God is real” recently strayed from truth when he declared that homosexuality is “hardwired” at birth and that the burgeoning number of transgendered individuals are folks who are “really just gay.”
The claims were made by candidate Vivek Ramaswamy during a recent “All-In Podcast.”
“The gay rights movement was predicated on the idea, which I’m quite sympathetic to, that the sex of the person that you’re attracted to is hardwired on the day you’re born,” Ramaswamy said.
His assertion that homosexuality is an immutable trait is based on a lie long advanced by the political left to increase unwarranted LGBT rights, including the U.S. Supreme Court’s unconscionable Obergefell decision that shredded society’s concept of marriage while throwing open the door to the plague of transgenderism.
The ‘born gay’ claim is unscientific, a myth
Studies of sexual orientation cast serious doubt on the “born that way” notion, according to a recent report by the Ruth Institute. No “gay gene” has been discovered, and studies of identical twins likewise do not support the idea that being “gay” is genetically determined.
“The findings of a recently published study explode the false narrative that being ‘gay’ is an innate condition that is controlled or largely compelled by one’s genetic makeup,” wrote Fr. Paul Sullins, a Catholic priest and former sociology professor at the Catholic University of America, in 2019.
“Rebutting decades of search by LGBT scientists for a ‘gay gene,’ the study’s first author flatly concludes ‘it will be basically impossible to predict one’s sexual activity or orientation just from genetics,’” Sullins said.
The Ruth institute report noted that even the American Psychological Association (APA) admits:
There is no consensus among scientists about the exact reasons that an individual develops a heterosexual, bisexual, gay, or lesbian orientation. Although much research has examined the possible genetic, hormonal, developmental, social, and cultural influences on sexual orientation, no findings have emerged that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors [highlighting in bold by the Ruth Institute].
The APA statement concludes: “Many think that nature and nurture both play complex roles; most people experience little or no sense of choice about their sexual orientation.”
This is an admission of absolute befuddlement by the self-described “leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 146,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students as its members.”
The fact is that “born that way” is a myth and so Ramaswamy has aligned himself not with science but with Lady Gaga and her gay/trans identity anthem, “Born This Way.”
It’s an UNTRUTH epically at odds with the spirit of Ramaswamy’s platform and which cries out for correction.
Casually repeating the “hardwired at birth”/“born that way” lie is dangerous because it holds a not-insignificant portion of the populous hostage to identity politics; has led to dangerous legislative and regulatory moves such as the outlawing of therapy for those with unwanted same-sex attraction and gender confusion; and has allowed for the infiltration of often highly sexualized LGBT indoctrination in our K-12 public schools and libraries.
Full disclosure: I myself am same-sex attracted. Dating back to my earliest childhood memories, I can’t recall a time when I was not same-sex attracted, as is common for many self-identifying gays. So as a matter of personal experience it seems very much that I and folks like me are “born that way.” It’s an easy conclusion to reach, but science shows that it’s not the correct conclusion.
Robbing gays of the American dream
Embracing “born that way” leads to the tragic false narrative that insists that for the same-sex attracted, embracing homosexuality is the only path available to us, that conjugal — man-woman — marriage is unattainable, that we are acting against our nature for desiring it, and that pursuing it will be dangerous for us, our spouses, and our children.
Yet the man-woman definition of marriage — conjugal, complementary marriage — is an ensign beckoning to all, not because it is just a good idea, or the best among many. It is a bright ensign because it is the truth, undeniably displayed in nature and in each of our physical beings. We are made male and female, as complements to each other.
Here’s where the lie clashes hardest with Ramaswamy’s efforts to bring about renewal in American society: To the chagrin of many on the left, Ramaswamy frequently speaks of how he was the product of a privileged upbringing because he was raised in a stable home by his mother and father.
My parents came to this country without a lot of money, so it’s not like I was born into money. But I’ve lived the American dream because I was given two parents, with a focus on education, and a belief in God. That was the ultimate privilege that I had. And I want to make sure that every kid across this country can benefit from the same thing.
It’s not just a religious foundation. Aristotle said, ‘Great countries and great nations are built on the foundation of the household. So let’s stop incentivizing people to have single parent families … let’s cultivate a culture where we celebrate the things that make us great: Family and the nuclear family in particular.
Yet the chance of experiencing this ultimate privilege in life — as children and parents alike — is undermined by the false “born that way” narrative. Two men or two women are not and never will be the foundation of a “nuclear family.”
Ramaswamy risks withholding the American dream from current and future generations and waylaying cultural renewal by insisting that gays and lesbians are “born that way.”
Bewildering ‘trans’ are ‘just gay’ comment
The candidate wandered further afield during the same podcast when he said of the booming number of trans-identifying individuals: “I think what’s happening in many cases [is] somebody who claims to be trans is really just gay.”
This is a bewildering, unsubstantiated claim, likely based on outdated stereotypes.
The male heterosexual population who identify as female do so because they suffer from autogynephilia, a term that describes males who are sexually aroused by the thought of themselves as females, or transvestic fetish disorder, which describes men who have a sexual or erotic interest in cross-dressing.
Ramaswamy’s claim is “a load of crap,” said Walt Heyer, a former transgender who reverted to his God-given sexual identity over 30 years ago and now runs SexChangeRegret.com, a ministry that helps individuals navigate out of the transgender world after “gender-affirming” medical and surgical treatments.
“His statement is totally bogus. This is what the churches think. This is what people have running through their heads,” Heyer told LifeSiteNews, yet “95% of the thousands of people that have contacted me are heterosexual.”
LifeSiteNews reached out to Ramaswamy to discuss the issues more than a week ago. Neither the candidate nor his campaign responded.

That and he loves transgenders in the military. Another hero down the drain around here. Lol.
This is old news. Many studies have been done that indicated that 2% of males & females are attracted to their own sex, and another 2-3% can go either way. It is due to the process of creation that creates an unique individual.
this process allows humans and life in general to evolve.
One of the big lessons of the Transgender thing is that: “people can change and become the opposite of what you expect”.
Doesn’t matter if that is “true” or not.
It blows the old “born that way” idea out of the water.
It destroys the idea that “you can’t fix me / I don’t need to be fixed”.
It ends the notion that “medical intervention cannot help me”.
Either homosexuals have to admit that they can be fixed through psychotherapy, or else homosexuals have to go to war against transgenders.
Make the other side war within itself.
“Born that way”?? It’s just a terrible political position.
Sure seeing a lot of articles about this feller. I held my nose and voted for a Mormon but not a Hindu.
Maybe he had an encounter at a young age with Uncle Pervie.
Homosexuality is demonic, not a genetic defect. And yes, the Bible does not condone it.
Homosexuality can be cultural:

It probably is inherent to some very limited extant.
It probably is inherent to some very small extant.
This guy is a fraud from top to bottom
Those that support him really need to dig deeper.. he is not what they believe him to be.
A recent theory is Toxoplasma Gondii, a common parasite.
So we see some people on Free Republic agree with Vivek. While others are outraged at what he said.
I’ve always heard nobody knows what causes homosexuality.
The biblical explanation is crystal clear in Romans 1.
Romans 1 explains exactly where homosexuality comes from - it is a consequence of idolatry, and as a result the Lord gives people over to their sinful nature.
And idolatry is a consequence of refusing to acknowledge God as Creator, and give thanks.
Idolatry isn’t “genetic”. It is disobedience.
No.
But there are a lot of very strong indicators that hormone treatments given to the mother during pregnancy can determine or influence sexual orientation.

" Women exposed to elevated androgens prenatally because of CAH also are less likely to be exclusively or almost exclusively heterosexual than are other women, a finding that has again been independently replicated cross-nationally [25-28]. "
There are research studies going back to the 1970s which point to similar conclusions for both male and female homosexual orientation.
As you might expect, controlled experiments on this point are rather difficult to arrange.
It generally is unethical to manipulate testosterone during early human development for experimental purposes. Instead, information has come from individuals who developed in unusual hormone environments, including individuals with genetic conditions, individuals whose mothers were prescribed hormones during pregnancy, and boys who were reassigned as girls early in life, because of penile damage.

Capote was well known for his distinctive, high-pitched voice and odd vocal mannerisms, his offbeat manner of dress...
In the late 1960s, he became friendly with Lee Radziwill, the sister of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Radziwill was an aspiring actress and had been panned for her performance in a production of The Philadelphia Story in Chicago....Radziwill supplanted the older Babe Paley as Capote’s primary female companion in public throughout the better part of the 1970s.
Despite the assertion earlier in life that one “lost an IQ point for every year spent on the West Coast”, he purchased a home in Palm Springs and began to indulge in a more aimless life and heavy drinking. This resulted in bitter quarreling with Dunphy, with whom he had shared a nonexclusive relationship since the 1950s. Their partnership changed form and continued as a nonsexual one, and they were separated during much of the 1970s.
In the late 1970s, Capote was in and out of drug rehabilitation clinics, and news of his various breakdowns frequently reached the public. In 1978, talk show host Stanley Siegel did an on-air interview with Capote, who, in an extraordinarily intoxicated state, confessed that he had been awake for 48 hours and when questioned by Siegel, “What’s going to happen unless you lick this problem of drugs and alcohol?” Capote responded, “The obvious answer is that eventually, I mean, I’ll kill myself...without meaning to.” The live broadcast made national headlines.
Capote died in Bel Air, Los Angeles, on August 25, 1984. According to the coroner’s report, the cause of death was “liver disease complicated by phlebitis and multiple drug intoxication”. He died at the home of his old friend Joanne Carson, ex-wife of late-night TV host Johnny Carson, on whose program Capote had been a frequent guest. Gore Vidal responded to news of Capote’s death by calling it “a wise career move”.

Sorry but the “Hardwire from Birth” (genetic) would defying Darwinian evolution.. the critical point being for a random genetic mutation has to be pass on in reproduction.. a “gay gene” mutation would be self extinguishing
(Not that I believe that Darwinian evolution is correct. But it drive’s lib when you point out that they believe in something would violate evolution)
I've talked with someone who've worked in the mental health field. He told me that it's mostly because they were groomed when they were at a young age.
Sometimes they are and that’s a fact. My wife had a cousin and no doubt from the earliest age played with dolls the works. Just born with the wrong wiring like blindness etc
