Trump: I Won’t Sign RNC Pledge to Endorse GOP Nominee — ‘Three or Four People That I Wouldn’t Support’
Breitbart ^ | 9 Aug 2023 | Pam Key

Former President Donald Trump said Wednesday on Newsmax TV’s “The Balance” that he would not sign the Republican National Committee’s pledge to support the GOP nominee to attend the first primary debate on August 23 on Fox News.

Trump said, “I’ve already decided and I’ll be announcing something next week.”

Host Eric Bolling said, “Fox senior executives came and had dinner with you and pitched you. Did they move the needle?”

Trump said, “Well they were very nice. Look, they were very nice.”

Bolling said, “The only reason I say this, I put a poll up on Twitter. At least two-thirds of the people don’t want you to do the debate because they feel it could be a setup. Are you concerned about Fox setting you up?”

Trump said, “Well, when you’re at 75, 78, 80%, and other guys are 0, 1%, 2%, 3%, you do say, ‘What’s the upside? Am I going to go up one point? But they could go up, you know. They’re not dumb people. They’re senators. They’re governors. They’re intelligent people. You have some very good people.”

Trump said, “I have a problem with the debate for another reason. I wouldn’t sign the pledge. Why would I sign a pledge if there are people on there that I wouldn’t have? I wouldn’t have certain people as, you know, somebody that I’d endorse. So, they want you to sign a pledge, but I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president. So there is a problem right there.”

Bolling asked, “Can I ask which three?”

Trump said, “There’s no reason to insult them but there are some people there that a lot of people wouldn’t endorse.”

He continued, “They’re not going to go anywhere, by the way. They’re not going to get it.

Reagan didn’t lose Iowa because he didn’t debate. He lost because the Iowa Party apparatus was controlled by Bushies. The caucuses were run pretty loosely back in the day and allowed for plenty of party shenanigans. They may still be ala the Iowa democrat debacle last time around.

My first caucus in ‘76 was Ford vs. Reagan and after being told to “go make your voice heard at the caucus” they weren’t even going to take a vote in my precinct. I asked what was going on and a show of hands was made for the candidates. I doubt the information wasn’t even conveyed to the State party. I felt cheated and mislead and the GOP got a fifty year pain in the butt. The party is just reaping what they’ve sowed for decades with Trump: embrace him. He’s good for what ailes us.

There’d be nothing more on-brand for Trump like refusing to endorse the eventual GOP nominee and then either begging him for a pardon or, more likely, assisting Biden getting re-elected and living out his final days behind bars.

You know, I don't like to use words that the Left usually mis-uses, however, since I would not be mis-using it in this instance, I am going to break my normal rule.

You really appear to be a Trump HATER when you post garbage like this.

Whatever did President Trump do to you for you to persistantly post the most negative things about him?

Obvious, distortion of truth posts about him?

Trump had rather have Biden re-elected then to unify the Republican party.

Why didn't the Republican career politician lawyers, DeSantis etc, get behind the Trump, the #1 candidate with 75 million supporters?

Why do you people not want to divide the party?

Trump is the most popular, respected president in modern U.S. history, with 75 million supporters. Why didn't the Republican party unite behind Trump?

The RNC just needs to pass a rule that anyone not participating in the debates will receive no money from the RNC if they become the nominee. Or even better, if they don’t participate in the debates, none of their delegates will be seated at the convention. The GOP is a private organization, they can do what they want…

Trump and Noem should be the ticket; none of the also-ran Republican candidates would be better than Noem.

How can Christie, Hutchinson, and Pence all sign such a loyalty pledge, when all three are truly disloyal?

He destroyed millions of American lives and then poisoned them with his beautiful vaccine he wont acknowledge.

The first vaccine to emerge from stage 3 clinical trials was Pfizer & they held their results until after the 2020 election.

Pfizer got EUA on Dec 10th & Moderna on Dec 17th, only a month before Trump left office. Trump never mandated vaccines, that came under Joe first around July 2021 and then he used OSHA to require vaccination or regular testing in Sept 2021. SCOTUS blocked this in January 2022. Covid killed far more Americans in Biden's 1st year with vaccines than in Trump's last year when the virus was new.

I had my Moderna shots. No complaints here.

Biden with the help of the media (esp. Chris Wallace) got under Trump's skin at the 2020 debates. It also didn't help Trump had been exposed to Covid most likely by Chris Christie during debate prep.

No idea who this "untested Dictator wannabe" is since Trump clearly resisted power during Covid-19 by putting the states in the hot seat.

I've been very vocal about my concerns whether Trump can win in the general if he's the GOP nominee but there's also no strong Trump alternative emerging.

HH does seem to be more than capable of kicking rhetorical ass.

A good pick by Wyo. and a big improvement in Congress.

Last time around, members of the RNC were nevertrumpers. Why sign a paper swearing allegiance to your enemy?

The RNC needs new blood, new youthful leadership, and to drop from the rosters anybody 70 years of age and older.

Trump is a jerk who demands loyalty from people who don’t owe it to him. It’s an open primary, but he treats it like it’s his flipping birthright.

This election more than any other should be the one where he says he’s going to support the GOP nominee considering that if the D’s retain the White House, he’s going to prison for the rest of his life. It’s as simple as that. Is that what you want? I don’t want it, but if this dumbass is so unbothered by that possibility that he’d actually help that scenario come to pass, then he can F right off and I’ll enjoy the laugh when they put him away for good.

"Do you think the Republican party will unify behind Trump if he is the nominee?"

I bet you can answer that question by checking to see what other nominees have signed the pledge that Trump has chosen not to sign.

The other day you said signing this pledge is a positive thing. I wonder how you view it now that Trump is refusing to sign.

That’s a pathetic attempt...even by your standards. Trump was a businessman who Romney was BEGGING to be endorsed by. Romney is the slime ball here. Thanks for pointing that out....not that most of us here didn’t already know that.

Old to enough to appreciate the humor of watching Trump and his supporters live by rules that are special to Trump. Rules that others are not allowed to use.

In this way, he and Biden are alike.

That old.. I think getting a state legislature to protect governor’s travel as state secret is a remarkable feat…. President Trump was forced by you all to make his taxes public..

Bunch of spoiled brats..playing fast and loose with the rules they make up. Make no mistake your holy man is one and the same in the law business. He has demonstrated he will use the law to enrich himself.
