Trump: I Won’t Sign RNC Pledge to Endorse GOP Nominee — ‘Three or Four People That I Wouldn’t Support’
Breitbart ^ | 9 Aug 2023 | Pam Key

Former President Donald Trump said Wednesday on Newsmax TV’s “The Balance” that he would not sign the Republican National Committee’s pledge to support the GOP nominee to attend the first primary debate on August 23 on Fox News.

Trump said, “I’ve already decided and I’ll be announcing something next week.”

Host Eric Bolling said, “Fox senior executives came and had dinner with you and pitched you. Did they move the needle?”

Trump said, “Well they were very nice. Look, they were very nice.”

Bolling said, “The only reason I say this, I put a poll up on Twitter. At least two-thirds of the people don’t want you to do the debate because they feel it could be a setup. Are you concerned about Fox setting you up?”

Trump said, “Well, when you’re at 75, 78, 80%, and other guys are 0, 1%, 2%, 3%, you do say, ‘What’s the upside? Am I going to go up one point? But they could go up, you know. They’re not dumb people. They’re senators. They’re governors. They’re intelligent people. You have some very good people.”

Trump said, “I have a problem with the debate for another reason. I wouldn’t sign the pledge. Why would I sign a pledge if there are people on there that I wouldn’t have? I wouldn’t have certain people as, you know, somebody that I’d endorse. So, they want you to sign a pledge, but I can name three or four people that I wouldn’t support for president. So there is a problem right there.”

Bolling asked, “Can I ask which three?”

Trump said, “There’s no reason to insult them but there are some people there that a lot of people wouldn’t endorse.”

He continued, “They’re not going to go anywhere, by the way. They’re not going to get it.

Remember when Ted Cruz said something like, “Vote your conscience” back in 2016?

Remember how many people blasted Ted Cruz for that statement?

Do you think those same people will come forward now and blast Donald Trump?

“Trump’s [sic] holds a firm grip on only 24% of GOP primary voters while 38% say they will consider him and other candidates in the primary. Nearly a third (29%) of GOP voters say they will vote for anyone except Trump.”

‐———————

cite any poll you want and then sell YOUR choice as having a higher favorable rating.

Too many lefties are spending their late daddy’s money. They’ve never worked a day in their life.
We need more self-made Americans.

Trump, Scott, Ramaswammy .. and Haley could all unite the party. Pence and DeSantis are nice guys but not suited to be the leader of the party, nor the USA.

Not to mention that the Republican Party only accounts for about 40% of the electorate. That means Trump has a lock on about 10% to 15% of the vote … TOPS.

The rest may vote for him because he is the Republican nominee, but then again, they might just stay home. Meanwhile, Trump’s toxicity will ensure the the Ds come out in force, as will the I voters who belong with the “He** No!” group.

People in the Trump echo chamber tend to forget that.

“ 24% of GOP primary voters want Trump
38% say they will consider others
29% of GOP will not vote for Trump. ”

——————————-

If you’re arguing who will win the primary…….the primary is over. Those with no chance of winning are creating chaos, including DeSantis.

If you’re arguing who will win the general….who knows

The poll you posted changes nothing whether it is accurate or not. It’s just more noise to keep the base agitated.

Trump is correct on his history. Reagan skipped the 1980 Iowa debate, as he considered himself the inevitable nominee. He then had his clock cleaned in Iowa by GHW Bush. To his credit, Reagan rushed to New Hampshire and arranged for his own debate. He went on to win NH and then the nomination. Trump should take note.

No chance President Trump shows up for the debate. He's too far ahead for any upside.

The thing he should do is watch the debate with a few allies and provide running commentary. I once watched an edition of Conan the Barbarian where Arnold and the director did this and it was both awesome and hilarious.

Guaranteed better ratings than watching the boring Lilliputians slug it out.

The pledge is idiotic. It’s cow towing to the commiecrats that foisted it on the repukes. Trump is dead on here.

I will vote for the Republican nominee, even if it is Liz Cheney.

I voted for Mitt Romney. It took me a few minutes of hemming and hawing, but I filled in the circle.

I bought a steak afterward to mentally recover. It tasted great.

If it is Liz, I’d like somebody give me a deal on a side of beef.

Bingo .
Trump has never been a republican.
He could care less about the Gop .
He has lost the last five election cycles.
Sadly , Prepare yourself for Biden in 24 .
He is the Hillary of 2024.

There are a lot of us who truly have not yet decided. We have eliminated Assa and the guy from ND. Fatso has eliminated himself... he is running to be the high paid media darling, not to be President. Some of us don’t know why Desantis is running... Did his wife tell him to do it?

Trump, Scott, Ramaswamy, Haley are for real.

It seems fair that he not endorse anyone he thinks wouldn’t be good for the country. But what if some of his fellow candidates decide the same? Will he respect their choice?

He won’t support anyone but himself. The Trump ego won’t let him admit that anyone could top him.

Who, as a conservative in their right mind, would care what those other candidates decide?
