A teenager has been arrested after she was caught on camera violently assaulting an Asian family on the New York City Subway.
The 16-year-old girl, who has not been named, handed herself in after officers appealed for more information by releasing her photograph on Sunday.
She is accused of beating Sue Young, 51, in front of her young daughters and husband, as well as Joanna Lin, who started filming the teen when she harassed the family.
The teenager has been charged with two counts of assault after handing herself in to cops at 9.45am on Tuesday morning.
Authorities initially said that they were investigating the alleged assault as a hate crime, but no charges were filed in relation to that allegation.
Both victims have insisted the assault was not because of their race but believe they could have been perceived as an easy target.
The Young family from Nevada had been in the final week of a six-week vacation when they were attacked by a group of teenage girls on the F train in Manhattan last week...
The train was approaching West 4th Street when the incident began, with Young laughing with them in an attempt to stop their taunts.
But the trio then started swearing and threatening the family, who had their 11-year-old twins with them at the time, before some passengers tried to intervene.
Video footage taken by Lin, 34, shows the teen who was arrested spotting the camera and allegedly punching her several times.
Another girl then started screaming at Young, who pushed her away, with the arrested teen then launching herself at the mother-of-two.
Young claims that the teen 'grabbed her hair' and started 'slugging' at her, which resulted in her glasses being thrown of her face and her arm bruised.

This is why the ADL and FBI's hate crime stats are unreliable. Hate crimes committed by blacks against anyone are rarely classified as hate crimes (never, if the victim is white).
And of course, the victims in this case know to say "It's not about race."
