TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended State Attorney Monique Worrell for "dereliction of duty" on crime via an executive order on Wednesday.

DeSantis' office says that Worrell has routinely allowed murderers and other violent offenders to "escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct." The governor is tapping Florida judge Andrew Bain to replace Worrell as the state attorney for the 9th judicial circuit.

"The practices and policies of her office have allowed murderers, other violent offenders, and dangerous drug traffickers to receive extremely reduced sentences and escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct. In some cases, these offenders have evaded incarceration altogether," DeSantis' office wrote in a statement.

DeSantis moved quickly on this. Friday night there was a shooting of two police officers in downtown Orlando. The suspect was a professional criminal who had been given the soft touch treatment on a rape and was caught driving a car that was tied to a murder in Miami. He should have been in jail but Worrell treated the thug with kid gloves. Interestingly, during the presser of his takedown, she made a point of saying this was “no one's fault but his own”. She knew this was coming.

Trump could learn a lesson here.

That’s great! One of the things I like about DeSantis is that he cleans out the deadwood and won’t tolerate either ineptitude or outright defiance of state law.

He’s gotten rid of a number of people (of all colors and ranks) in the state bureaucracy. I’d love to see what he’d do at the federal level..there’d probably be nobody left, lol!

Regardless of one’s choice for nominee, DeSantis’ actions here have to be admired. If he were elected president, I would be perfectly comfortable.

Good move on Desantis’ part. He’s tough on crime, glad he did this. Other Governors who care about their citizens safety should take note and follow suit.

Not that it would happen here in HELLINOIS with that fat POS JB Prickster

Sadly, Worrell and another black State Attorney who was also removed were elected as Democrats on racially tinged, soft-on-crime platforms. Politically, DeSantis can remove them because the solid conservative, GOP Florida State Senate will back his move and not order their reinstatement.

George Soros spent $2.2 million getting Worrell elected.

And Ron DeSantis fired her. Worst “Soros plant” ever.
