I get 5% rewards for every dollar I charge to my GM card. When that rewards balance builds to $3500 (it takes 7 years) then I go look at new GM cars and use the rewards balance to knock off $3500 more form the final deal I made. I think we bought 5 new cars with GM rewards so far saving $17,000+
Oh yes, many of them creatures are based in Delaware.
I am guessing during Biden’s 2nd term. Buying votes with my tax money.
FreeRepublic accepts credit cards, but mostly behind goal.
I use credit cards for almost everything. But I have one very simple rule...every credit card gets paid in full every month.
Dave Ramsey has lots of dumb advice. I have credit cards and use them for almost everything. I just pay them off in full every month.
Amen, and seconded.
Some credit cards give you back 2% on purchases, and if you use the card for a good chunk of your overall purchases, that’s a pretty nice chunk of change.
I’ve probably gotten well over $100,000 travel benefits. I’m a flight to Europe now that is costing $5.60.
Mine give me back as much as four or five percent. Free money, as I pay mine off in full each month.
I could never be that careful in how many cards I own.
The world record is nearly 1500 cards.

That is key: live well beneath your means, and save/invest the "excess".
Because bad things happen.
That is good method to avoid trips to bank to get cash out. I have not used cash in 15 or 20 years.
I will be 68 this month and still working. I shop local whenever I can and never on credit.
I use Amazon for bulk purchases like laundry and cleaning supplies, furnace filters, vitamins, my Sumatran coffee, my wifes gluten free goodies and other stuff that I can’t find local. For that I use an Amazon points card. It is set on auto-pay in full. I’m also a Amazon Prime member for the free shipping.
I travel a lot for the people I work for so I have a Delta branded American Express. It costs $250 year. I use it for bigger items instead of cash. I might as well get miles for money I was going to spend anyway. It also gets me into the Delta lounges for $35. Free food and booze and a quiet place on a long layover is priceless! It is also auto-pay in full.
My pay is split between two checking accounts with the same bank.
One is for auto pay of set bills such as car payments, insurance, cell phones, internet and my Amazon card (which is pretty steady). The cars are paid for now so I’m reducing the amount.
I’m maxed out on my 401K and put a chunk onto Telco Federal Credit Union every 2 weeks.
I waited until 66+2 months for my SS retirement just over a year ago then got my SS payments rolling in (minus vol withholding).
Since then I’ve spent $45K cash on my house. New siding (Alside Cladding is amazing), new roof & gutters, new HVAC, new front porch and back deck. The house is now ready for my retirement!
Inflation is tending to make my bills larger.
Especially as I spend mostly on Food and Fuel which our genius gov’t no longer includes in their alleged Inflation numbers.

Goodness! That’s about $3,000 for every person in the USA. There’s no way that this is going to end well.
In the days of “revolving credit” I joked that I paid my Visa bill with my MasterCard one month, then paid the MasterCard bill with Visa the next, etc.
I finally made a spreadsheet with some conditional formatting that highlights cells when statements can be downloaded. That way I can manage them even when out of the country.
The experts exclude food and fuel prices because according to them, those prices are just too volitile.
that is called ‘kiting’
