Some credit cards give you back 2% on purchases, and if you use the card for a good chunk of your overall purchases, that’s a pretty nice chunk of change. Mine give me back as much as four or five percent. Free money, as I pay mine off in full each month.

I pay mine off in full each month. That is key: live well beneath your means, and save/invest the "excess".
