John Lauro, an attorney for former President Donald Trump, said former Vice President Mike Pence could save Trump from potentially facing life in prison as well as the death penalty if he testifies.
Lauro noted that Pence could serve as “one of our best witnesses” should he testify in the case against Trump.
This comes after the former Vice President appeared on CBS’ “Face The Nation,” where he told host Margaret Brennan that he has no plans to testify against Trump but will if the law asks him to.
“I have no plans to testify, but people can be confident we’ll obey the law. We’ll respond to the call of the law if it comes, and we’ll just tell the truth,” Pence said.
Despite Pence saying Trump should never be president again — I disagree — Lauro believes the former vice president could deliver key testimony preventing Trump from going to prison, and ultimately, make liberals go crazy.
“ Mike Pence will be one of our best witnesses at trial,” Lauro told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “I read his book very carefully, and if he testifies consistent with his book, then President Trump will be acquitted.”
“Number one: Mr. Pence recognizes that John Eastman, who was giving legal advice, was a renowned legal scholar,” Lauro added. “Number two: Vice President Pence recognized that there were discrepancies and fraud in connection with the election. He wanted it to be debated on Capitol Hill; Mr. Trump wanted it to be debated in the state legislatures.”

Why? He’ll just lie and won’t be called out for it.
FTA-——“Mike Pence will be one of our best witnesses at trial,” Trump atty Lauro told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “I read his book very carefully, and if he testifies consistent with his book, then President Trump will be acquitted.”

<><>“Number two: Vice President Pence recognized that there were discrepancies and fraud in connection with the Biden election win. He wanted it to be debated on Capitol Hill; Mr. Trump wanted it to be debated in the state legislatures.”
<><>”when Pence testifies, Biden’s [weaponized] government will not be able to prove ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ that President Trump had corrupt or criminal intent.”
“I cannot wait until I have the opportunity to cross-examine Mr. Pence, because he will completely eliminate any doubt that President Trump firmly believed that election irregularities had led to inappropriate results,” Lauro continued.
Not necessarily. For example, during the impeachment of Trump, there were peoepl like Rice who when testifying to Congress in private, said she knew darn well there was no Russia Collusion. But in public: they are said the opposite. When under oath especially if the opposing side has the goods to dispute your lies, people will often times tell the truth.

There is no way in he!! I’d every vote for Mike Pence.
Human nature being what it is, I do not expect Pence to be at all supportive of Trump.
Pence is a disgrace to Indiana. Just ask General Flynn what he thinks about Mr. Pence.
Good to see Trump’s lawyer playing head games with the enemy.
Yes. It’s a ludicrous case and it’s ludicrous that there would even be a trial or trials.
It’s a political persecution of the sort dictatorships carry out against political opponents.
Wrong. Trump has said very complimentary things, too complimentary if you ask me, until Pence came out publicly attacking Trump in very serious and legally life-altering ways.
so why don’t they just put him on the witness list and push comes to shove, treat him as a hostile witness?
So Trump’s lawyer thinks Pence will be their star witness.
OK, then.
Good luck with that plan.
I suspect Trump’s legal team has no interest in calling Pence as a witness. It would negate any legal challenges they may want to make (under executive privilege) to Pence’s involvement in the case up to this point.
thanx.... an interesting take there...makes sense.
I was thinking Pence would be using “notes” he took of their conversation.
I was wondering if Pres. Trump had the place wired in the first place.
Good point. Like Brennan and Shiff who told the media they had absolute proof of Trump’s Russia collusion but under oath didn’t say that.
“I know we all have got our doubts about the last election. I want to assure you that I share the concerns of millions of Americans about voting irregularities. I promise you, come this Wednesday, we will have our day in Congress! We'll hear the objections. We'll hear the evidence.”
— Pence, 01/04/2021
This quote by Pence proves that President Trump had a "reasonable" belief that he won the election.
If Pence says that "we all have got our doubts about the last election" and that "I share the concerns of millions of Americans about voting irregularities" just two days before the January 6 rally, then prosecutors can't say that Trump either knew he lost or knew he was making false statements about winning.
Even Trump's Vice President was publicly expressing "doubts about the last election" and mentioned "concerns of millions of Americans." There is no way that prosecutors can single out President Trump after this, though they will try.

Hope Mr. Pence walks out of the court room a tenor.
I dunno, Flynn lied to him. I am pretty sure that’s why Flynn got fired.
And then Flynn lied to investigators.
Seems to me, Flynn was a liar. Why would anyone listen to him?
