DeSantis finally acknowledges the truth about Trump's 2020 election lies: 'Of course he lost'

NEW YORK -- Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said definitively that rival Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, an acknowledgement the Florida governor made after years of equivocating answers.

“Of course he lost,” DeSantis said an interview with NBC News posted Monday. “Joe Biden's the president.”

DeSantis has often sidestepped questions about whether he believes the 2020 election results were legitimate. But in recent days he has started publicly questioning the lies that Trump and his allies have made about the election's legitimacy.

Federal and state election officials and Trump’s own attorney general said there was no credible evidence the election’s outcome was affected by fraud. The former president’s allegations were also roundly rejected by courts at the time, including judges he appointed.

Why would DeSantis tick off half the Republican party with these comments?

He's trying to paint himself as "the respectable conservative." As the responsible, non-crazy, non-extremist conservative.

Republicans have been playing that game for decades. It's their way of courting the media. "See, I'm not an extremist, like those other conservatives. I'm willing to compromise. Now please reciprocate and write nice things about me."

Bush and Dole tried to position themselves as "respectable" conservatives in contrast to Buchanan. Didn't matter. The media still tore into Bush and Dole in November.

He doesn’t realize it’s war. Or maybe he does and doesn’t want to man up. Either way, not what America is desperately in need of.

And how blind and tone deaf does Rob have to be to listen to moronic advisors??

He’s trying to woo the Lincoln Project wing of the Republican party.

The fact that Pence violated the private conversations he had with President Trump, by jotting down notes from them in the days prior to January 6th, tells me he either used them to consult with his “constitutional experts” prior to the vote, or he planned to use them against Trump down the road. Those notes he made were actually government property since he created them while still holding office. So where did they end up? Did he take them with him when he left on January 20, 2021, just like James Comey took the private notes he took during his meeting with President Trump in The Oval Office? Comey gave them to one of his lackey friends so they could leak them to The Washington Post. Who did Pence give them to?

Who is worse is arguable. This gift to the rats and MSM is far worse than anything Pence has said because of the perception of who DeSantis is…or was. It really knee-Capps anyone who points out the stolen election. An absolute betrayal.

He feeds Trump to alligator while expecting the alligator to leave him alone if he becomes the 2024 main course.

“He is not currently the President. It’s how he lost. His ‘victory’ was stolen.”

Succintly put, but there are some on this site who cannot, they pretend, grasp it.

DeSantis is doing and saying what he's told, demonstrating loyalty to the deep state / uniparty alliance. If he believes it, he's not my guy because he's dumb and naive. If he doesn't believe it then he's not my guy because he's agreeing to sell his soul for 30 pieces of silver.

Either way, he's not my guy. He was, all in, for 2028. Instead he's just a grave disappointment to me and will be forgotten after his national political career ends with a whimper next year.

“As much as I like DeSantis as governor, he proves yet again that he is not prepared to confront the Deep State mafia.”

That is the whole thing right there. We need someone who is going to clean out Washinton DC.

I agree. You can add others to the list such as Barr.

Chinese dictator Chairman Mao “won” every election in which he ran. By at least 95%.

I suppose if you want to consider that “winning”, be my guest.

“Federal and state election officials and Trump’s own attorney general said there was no credible evidence the election’s outcome was affected by fraud. The former president’s allegations were also roundly rejected by courts at the time, including judges he appointed.”

This is the Big Lie. Who cares what election officials said? The evidence was dismissed not examined. The court cases were dismissed on technicalities. Vote validations were denied. Biden did not get 81 million votes. Impossible.
