Black groups, including the largest Black fraternity, announced that they will pull their conventions out of Florida over its “harmful, racist, and insensitive policies against the Black community.”
The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity General President Dr. Willis, L. Lonzer, III announced on July 26th at a current convention on Thursday the relocation of the Fraternity’s 99th General Convention and 119th Anniversary Convention from Orlando, Florida, which was scheduled to take place in 2025.
APAF characterized the new controversial K-12 curriculum for African American history, as erasing “Florida’s role in slavery and oppression, declaring that “African Americans who endured slavery benefited from the horrific and torturous institution,” and blaming the victims of slavery. *** [T]he fraternity said that the announcement “amplifies” their theme “Strengthening the Brotherhood and Standing for Social Justice.” *** He went on to say, “In this environment of manufactured division and attacks on the Black community, Alpha Phi Alpha refuses to direct a projected $4.6 million convention economic impact to a place hostile to the communities we serve. Although we are moving our convention from Florida, Alpha Phi Alpha will continue to support the strong advocacy of Alpha Brothers and other advocates fighting against the continued assault on our communities in Florida by Governor Ron DeSantis.”
APAF is part of a coalition of groups pushing back against DeSantis’ policies. *** APAF, which has had more than 175,000 members join the group since the organization’s founding in 1906, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
This comes after reportedly 11 organizations including the NAACP penned a letter to the Florida State Board of Education criticizing the new standards. The Florida DOE has even gotten pushback from members of the Biden administration.

In other news, it is anticipated that in 2025, crime will be down in Orlando, Florida.
And shazam, Florida just became a bit more safe.
Let them, who cares.
If they broke contracts to do this they will face penalties. If they haven’t signed any contracts it’s not a loss it’s just a potential loss. Now the facilities that would have hosted and supported it will just find another client for those dates.
“And shazam, Florida just became a bit more safe.”
Exactly.
$4.6 million impact?
Is that FOR the economy, like they were going to impart that much money into FL?
Or what it will cost FL to deal with the aftermath of the convention?
Hopefully this will spread.
Black dems REFUSE to admit that slavery itself taught blacks a skill...Planting cotton and vegetables, black smithing etc...They could take that after they were freed and use the skills....Annnnd by the way, were they also against teaching that blacks were slaveowners of black slaves??????
Now if FL could only get them to boycott Spring Break...
Florida lucked out.
The Florida DOE has even gotten pushback from members of the Biden administration.
Really! Even the hacks in the Biden administration have “pushed back?” That’s really startling. Some genius, this author
In other news… unofficially, many black youths are cancelling their plans for Black Spring Break on Florida beaches. The horror…the horror. /sarc
Free one-way coach airfare to Port-au-Prince should be provided to any blacks unhappy here.
True racists don’t move to Florida—they live in Massachusetts.
The demographics speak for themselves.
There is no valid defense of slavery. Gtfoh
So...Liberia will be a thing again?
All these over educated racists are nauseous.
OKbye
It should hold its convention in downtown San Francisco, the City by the Barf.
Popeye’s and Church’s hardest hit.
