A federal judge issued a ruling ordering Donald Trump to respond to a protective order filed by the Justice Department that would block the former president from sharing details of evidence from his Jan. 6 criminal case proceedings.
In a court order filed Saturday afternoon, Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled Trump's legal team must respond to the special counsel's motion by Monday at 5 p.m. The order comes after the DOJ issued a court filing at about 10 p.m. on Friday, calling attention to a message Trump posted on his Truth Social account that prosecutors say raises concerns the former president may improperly share details about his latest criminal proceedings.

If their case is so strong, airing evidence shouldn’t be a concern. In fact, if one administration is going to prosecute a former administration, the evidence should be so damning a trial isn’t even necessary.
Trump should respond “Hell no...what are you going to do? Indict me?” LOL.
It happens from time to time, gag orders have been issued in the past and have not been ruled unconstitutional on the premise it protects the jury pool from being unduly influenced.
I don’t think it’s right, but it happens and it’s not a violation of anyone’s rights or at least the Supreme Court has not said that it is.

Hm classified info would be one thing,
However I am not certain why a defendant could not release or discuss evidence in his own case.
If specific evidence should be kept sealed for some reason, the prosecutor should ask that the specific item be restricted.
You are correct about gag orders however part of the danger is treating this like any other case.
We’re in uncharted waters when a presidential candidate/ former president is being gagged.
The Judge should mistrial the whole proceeding since Smith voluntarily omitted a great deal of testimony.

The prosecution is well aware of the power of the media. They don’t want Trump’s opinions out there, while they themselves can say anything they want.
The subtleties will be lost on the hoi polloi. Not everyone reads Free Republic.
This is where they want the battle to be unfairly fought: in public and dominated by the biased mostly left-wing big media.
I don’t know how Trump’s team will fight this. Once you cut the other side’s voice, the game is over. Hope I’m wrong.
The Chicago or Mayor Daley wanted everyone to have a zoning violation, a building code violation, an DUI charge, etc..
The machine did not want any of these to be convicted. They wanted to hold it over the heads of the voters and everyone.
They only convicted the slumlord who did not cooperate, the drunk who did not cooperate.
No matter what...anything that is put forth from January 6th....is pick and choose.
I think keeping from the public is an attempt to intimidate whistle blowers and witnesses.
Litigate each and every SC filing/motion/etc, no matter how small, all the way up to the SCOTUS.

The whole point to the DC trial is to hamstring Trump. To limit what he can say and do and who he can talk to. Of course they will when the actual trial but lose the appeal. The indictment is completely unconstitutional. In DC Trump could be convicted of shooting JFK. Anything they accuse him of, they will get twelve DC jurors to convict.
So, in other words, don’t you dare let the truth get out!
