Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday offered his strongest dismissal of the election fraud theories at the heart of former President Donald Trump's push to overturn the 2020 election.
Asked by a reporter during a campaign stop in Iowa whether the 2020 election was "stolen," DeSantis said the fraud theories "did not prove to be true." He did not, however, mention the name of his top rival for the GOP nomination, who was just indicted for allegedly working to overturn the last presidential election.
"I've said many times the election is what it is," DeSantis said. "All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true. But what I've also said is the way you conduct a good election that people have confidence in, you don't change the rules in the middle of the game."
DeSantis went on to talk up changes made to Florida election law under his administration. And he criticized Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg's grants for election administration, as well as social media outlets for deemphasizing information from President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden's laptop ahead of the 2020 vote — two favorite targets of conservatives when excoriating the last presidential election.

??”Conservatives are certainly benefiting from DeSantis and the conservative agenda he delivers. Post Modern Populists not so much.”
I guess ignoring corruption is now a conservative value? Conservatives don’t care about the rule of law? Give me a break. Without the rule of law, conservatism is just pretty words in a book.
You think "best attorneys" would make these COWARD/LIAR judges rule differently?
Why would any of these idiot/corrupt judges touch this? It doesn't matter if you had Clarence Darrow as the lawyer, the sh*tbag Judges would not look at it.
This is correct, because when the truth contradicts the opinions of a bunch of people, I go with the truth, not the opinions of the "majority."
I think conservatives tend to be stubborn like that.
The Asch conformity experiments showed that 80% of the population will go along with a lie if they believe the majority thinks its true. Most people are followers and are influenced by peer pressure.
I think conservatives tend to be independent and not willing to bend just because the majority wants to pressure us into believing the same delusional thing that they believe, like men in dresses becoming "women", or "global warming."
By saying this, DeSantis is persona non gratis with Trump’s supporters. This may be necessary for the country, but is political suicide.
This part you get right. If he really said this, he has shot himself in the foot with the people he needed most.
You are right about this.
The venue for fixing the problem in 2020 was the state legislatures, not the courts.
All of which were in recess, and all of which the governor refused to order a special session to look at the corruption and fraud. Pennsylvania and Arizona legislators were begging for a special session, but that might expose the corruption, so no.
The courts were the only possible hope, and we should have known that corrupt/idiot/coward judges would do nothing useful for the nation.
Being on FR for 23 years, I have learned there is nothing that will twist the truth so much as an ideological Freeper. No matter how much evidence you give them, it either fits into their narrative, or it is twisted into something that does, or it is outright denied.
What good does recounting fake ballots do?
When they did an audit of Arizona's Maricopa county they discovered 75,000 fake ballots in an election that was swung by 11,000 votes.
Recounting fake ballots doesn't solve anything. They did that in Georgia, and it just showed the same fake result that you get when you count fake ballots.
Every Republican is "Hitler."
Some of us just don't grasp the nature of the enemy lie machine that is the media.
Accept what????
75,000 fake ballots were not found in Maricopa
You’re not disagreeing with me. You are proving what I said.
I hear ya brother. I have learned that people want to believe what they want to believe, and they simply find evidence to the contrary "annoying."
There are time individuals have to do what is best for the country.
Somebody on our side has to say Trump lost and it’s time we we can, move on. And there are a lot of Trump supporters who won’t forgive the person who says that.
I like your naivety. It’s actaully not a bad strategy.
Unless Trump should prevail, of course.
DeSantis comes right out and says it, and people still try to pretend he didn’t say what he said. It’s clear that DeSantis wants to give lip service to the idea of cleaning up elections, but he’s not interested in justice. and he’s not ultimately interested in fixing things
He treats election fraud as if it’s an abstract problem. And he’s going to pass some new laws to prevent it from ever happening again. No prosecutions, because the election fraud theories “did not prove to be true”, but don’t worry folks. DeSantis is on it. He’s going to pass a few laws and look into moving trials out of D.C. No prosecution. Pass a few laws and allow the traitors to live to fight another day.
Would you care to elaborate further? My recollection of the report from the Cyber Ninjas is that they found 75,000 fake ballots.
Or close enough as makes no difference.
But while we are on it, I recall reading that they found 200,000 fake voters.
Let's go even further. The Cyber Ninja guy tasked with looking at the military absentee ballots said that when he received them, they weren't actual ballots. They were photocopies on photocopy paper.
He said the numbers went from 1,800 ballots in 2016 to around 9,000 in 2020, and they were *95%* for Joe Biden.
Fraud on the face of it. There is a video of him on youtube saying this, do you want me to find it for you?
95% military ballots for Joe Biden is simply not credible. It's clearly a rigged outcome. The military *HATES* that nasty corrupt bastard, and they would not vote for him in anything like that quantity.
2016 talking points.
Trump’s commanding lead in the pollsshows how much of the public believes him.
Opus?
Somebody? All the worst people in the Republican party have been saying that for three years!
I see them as liars, backstabbers, cowards, or just stupid.
And there are a lot of Trump supporters who won’t forgive the person who says that.
Nobody wants to hear lies. We hear enough from the Democrats.
It should be a clue that when you are agreeing with the Democrats, you are pretty much in the wrong.
Listen. You made the claim, you back it up.
Cyber ninjas actually confirmed the results. Any discrepancies would not have made a difference in the result.
Quit spouting bs based on ‘your recollection’.
Like I said accept what? Learn how to make a point.
