Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said the city’s community partners are pulling outreach workers from Mass & Cass, an area of the city also knowns as methadone mile, amid growing concerns for public safety.
Wu said the conditions around the intersection of Mass. Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard have gotten so dangerous with the increase of drug trafficking, human trafficking, and violence that some outreach organizations are pulling their teams off the streets.
“Even the outreach workers who have been there day after day are not feeling comfortable.. not feeling like they can physically safely be there anymore,” said Wu.

In recent months, police officers and others have been attacked in the area including a story we reported on just last month after a well-known Police Sergeant was pepper sprayed in an unprovoked attack. City data shows Boston EMS responses to the area have doubled from a year ago.
City Council President Ed Flynn is also addressing recent violence toward police officers and first responders.
“Boston police officers have experienced an increased level of physical and verbal assaults as they respond to emergency calls and patrol our neighborhoods,” said Flynn. “This violence against police and first responders is unacceptable, and needs to be condemned.”

Oh, well, back to work social workers.
Outreach Workers?
Is this not bureaucratic double speak for social workers that these woke idiots want as they Defund the Police?
Hmm. This doesn’t seem to be working out too well. Oh well.
(Bleep) them.
The wonders of Rule by Democrats.

Uh, never mind....
Send in more Social Worders ya jack wad. Oh, you tried that? Didn't work?
Well...
Spent some time in Beantown some years ago. It was trash then.
Austin (Sounds like Boston) defunded their police also. Crime is up. Murders are up. Street takeovers are up.
Got so bad in Austin that Governor Abbott sent in Department of Public Safety troops.
I kinda wish he hadn’t. Austin needs to self destruct.
“Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said the city’s community partners are pulling outreach workers from Mass & Cass”
Does that mean “restorative justice” isn’t restoring the thugs into the law abiding, model citizens they never were?
I’ve driven by this area. If you’re on Rt 93 and take the Massachusetts Ave exit, ie going to the Boston Symphony or to Fenway, the corner at that light is teeming with homeless people and drug addicts.
It rivals NYC and the squeegee guys from the 80s and 90s.
““Even the outreach workers who have been there day after day are not feeling comfortable.. not feeling like they can physically safely be there anymore,” said Wu.”
And that’s thanks to who, Wu? That would be you, Wu!!
I’m sure she will find a way to blame racism, police, courts and climate change as a reason why her utopia failed.
No such street as “Mass avenue”.
It is Massachusetts avenue on the street signs. The natives (and author) are not able to spell the name of their state and use slang instead.
*I have walked and driven Massachusetts avenue.
I grew up in Boston……I don’t recognize the city anymore.
Sad,sad,sad .
…..
We had dinner with a woman from Boston a couple weeks ago. She enjoyed the city for decades, but it’s gotten so bad with shootings, druggies, and dead bodies on the street that she sold out and moved here (North Idaho). She grew up nearby and spent spent many summers here, so she is familiar with the area. She was REALLY happy to be done with Boston.
I worked in the city for 25 years. Over the last 20+ years the only times I’ve set foot in the city are for health care or the airport.
I moved years ago to Newton…..abuts Boston………very liberal but a wonderful place.
…
But she’s a Harvard graduate.
Here is no Melenia Blvd.
…….
things will only get better when the idiots that created this situation start being victims of the crime, they are not enforcing...
