Mayor Eric Adams vowed Monday to deal with the illicit sex market that’s been thriving in Queens for months — even as the open-air red-light district continued unabated two days after being exposed in an exclusive report by The Post.
Adams said he took a wee-hours tour of the seedy strip to see for himself, and was shocked by what he witnessed, telling reporters: “It was filthy.”
“There was just a state of disorder,” the mayor said at an unrelated press conference. “I was out there about 1 a.m., 2 in the morning because I wanted to get an observation as to what was happening.
“And there is a plaza that’s there where there was illegal vending and just dangerous food service and then I walked along Roosevelt Avenue under the L line and it was clear: There was prostitution.”

I walked along Roosevelt Avenue under the L line and it was clear: There was prostitution.”
Time for the Shocked image to appear now!!
They said, “Welcome back, Eric. The usual?”
So did he get the Chamber of Commerce discount or he pay full price?
Then he better not go to Rick’s
“Adams says he wants to communicate with the sex workers and give them the services they need.”
LOL this guy is a regular comedian..
Adams was surprised? Does he actually live in a different city like Boston?
“And there is a plaza that’s there where there was illegal vending and just dangerous food service”
Why the hell would he even bring up “dangerous food” with the area awash in drugs, open drug use, thievery, public urination and defecation and brazen whoring?
Does he conflate “dangerous food” with these major crimes?
What a loon.
“We need an empty gesture”
I’m waiting for the day when a pol no longer spouts “services.” There actually WAS a day when that hadn’t been conceived.
Cops these days are sticking their neck out less that’s for sure. Hard to blame them.
“Does he conflate “dangerous food” with these major crimes?”
To a statist, flouting one regulation or rule is as dangerous as flouting any other.
Here's one.
“I came here for the waters.”
“To a statist, flouting one regulation or rule is as dangerous as flouting any other.”
Very good point and very true.
I remember in Tucson a brothel was never raided and it was rumored some City Council members were customers. Finally a neighbor had called in a bunch of times with no action so he started taking photos of license plates.
A baseball bat battle ensued and the police were called and the site was finally raided. Eleven police officers had to resign for being customers and it was known that high-ranking city officials and council members were on the phone list there.
The madame tried to file a complaint that her money was confiscated. I assume she got paid off because she stopped asking.
How many people were arrested in all this? You guessed it: zero.
