Angry residents and workers Sunday decried the hordes of hookers brazenly peddling themselves on a Queens street, where it was business as usual the day after The Post exposed the rampant illegal trade.
“The police do nothing — nothing!” fumed Anna Garcia, 42, who works at a cellphone store along the seedy stretch of Roosevelt Avenue in Corona dubbed the “Market of Sweethearts” by the prostitutes.
“Drugs, prostitution, alcohol — it’s terrible,” she said of the flagrant “underground” red-light district taking over the neighborhood filled with families with children.

He did but then the rats came back and NY returned to its natural state.
Almost 200 years of history says parts of NYC were like this most of the time. Going back to “Five Points” of what is now Chinatown.
In the 70’s I had to walk down 42nd St as part of my commute - back in the heyday of the sexploitation industry. You couldn’t walk from Port Authority to Madison Square Garden without getting accosted by hookers.
The sanitized version of Times Square of the recent past is an anomaly.
The walk from the subway to Citi Field has several streets with ladies of the evening.
Why should the politicians have the monopoly on being prostitutes?
In NYC you are correct. Outside of NYC Dominion chose the “leaders..”
I happened on a Youtube Video about Aurora Ave in Seattle. The title was innocuous and I left the city 12 years ago, so I thought it might be interesting to see what’s changed there, if anything.
It has.
I didn’t see any of that stuff when I lived there. Here it is, and it is one of many such videos taken in various cities in the US at various locations.
Correction, this is not “the” video. Rather, it is a search to videos just like it in that area. You don’t have to click on any of them to get the gist

If I’m not mistaken, NYC votes Democrat at a rate of about 87% each election, so if you’re mad and tossing about looking for someone to blame look in the mirror.
“I thought Giuliani cleaned all this up with his broken glass initiative in policing?”
Yeah he did. I left NYC for good in 1980 but I have family there - when I went back in the late 90s the Big Town was unrecognizable. I carried an exhausted 2 year old onto the F train and 3 people got up to offer me a seat.
The Giuliani - Bratton plan was to find the bad guys and send them upstate for 20 years. They only needed to send 5000 or so, and they were excellent and finding the right 5000 bad guys.
But
Nature took its course, 20 years have gone by, the bad guys are all back training their replacements, and it turns out that the bad guy community would rather have the crime than have their brothers, uncles, fathers etc upstate.
I don’t see a new Giuliani getting a handle on this.
Been looking for the Times Square Brothel.....back in the 70’s they had a lot of them. Need to return to the good old days.
Gothamites grew nostalgic for the NYC of the 70s.
My thoughts exactly.
Along with San Francisco and Los Angeles.
For those not familiar with the area this is a nabe overwhelmingly populated by poor Latin American immigrants and has had issues with prostitution for awhile. Lots of Chinese prostitution a few miles east in Flushing as well.
Actually, most of the streetwalkers are from Mexico and South America via the Latin gangs and Mexican Mafia/cartels.
