26 MILES of scaffolding blights NYC’s public housing, some up for 10 years

No New York pedestrian would disagree with Eric Adam’s characterization of the city’s ubiquitous sidewalk sheds at stalled construction sites as “ugly little green boxes.”

But his targeting of private buildings owners with $10,000 a month fines for scaffolding that stays up for more than 90 days without building repairs proceeding also suggests selective prosecution.

26 miles of scaffolding. Who owns and receives rent on the scaffolding?

The left’s WAR TO DESTROY THE AMERICAN KULAKS CONTINUES APACE. This is being done for the same reason, using COVID as an excuse, that small businesses were ordered to close while giant businesses such as Amazon, Walmart, Lowe’s and Home Depot remained open and had booming business.

The cool thing about the countries within the US is that if you live in a terrible area, you are free to move. It’s what I did 12 years ago. It’s the third best decision I made my entire life. (first is accepting Christ’s free gift, second is choosing my wife).

Remember the Grateful Dead? One of the two drummers was justifiably afraid a miscalculation by the sound expert would let the swaying tons of weight above his head come crashing down on him. Moved his kit.

“It did not need any delay towers to reach a distance of half a mile from the stage without degradation.”
“Four semi-trailers and 21 crew members were required to haul and set up the 75-ton Wall.”

The Dead’s PA system was one of the biggest and loudest I’ve ever seen.

NY needs more scaffolding to block the view of the unending ooze of pus that runs all through the city.

If you were a building owner, planned repairs, put up scaffolding, and then had to wait 5 years or more for your permit to perform the repairs, then it might look like what we currently see.

The only time I’ve seen such scaffolding was in the Soviet Union. I was told those scaffolds “had always been there”.

Reminds me of the barricades on the “freeway” through Dallas.

RE: The Dead’s PA system was one of the biggest and loudest I’ve ever seen.

Even compared to the local parks near their house in Haight Ashbury I guess.😁

I saw them Aug.12, 1967 at the Grande Ballroom. One album was out. They played a park concert the next day but I didn’t see it.

Up next, Mayor Adams will propose putting the homeless on the scaffolding. What could possibly go wrong?

Yep. Corruption to the max. Like all blue run cities. For decades. As they corrode and implode, slowly, like rotting corpses. They voted for it, so own it. They’ll look to the Feds for bailouts of all kinds....wait and see.

How much has been charged for new equipment just because the old has been left at the old job site?

Sounds like the Sopranos have the scaffolding contract with a 10% kickback to an unnamed “Big Guy”.

Everything in NYC requires a permit....and, a UNION, to complete the job....each specific part of a job.

We watched a (new) public library take over THREE years to be built, once. Who knows how long it ever took to build....might not even be finished, still.

Majority of buildings are ANCIENT and decrepit. Crazy....even when you go to older blue cities like Boston....buildings are at least up to date, while maintaining the original architecture. Not NYC.
