Only four veterans of former President Donald Trump’s Cabinet are backing his 2024 election bid, a recent tally shows.
Of 44 former Cabinet members surveyed by NBC News, just former chief of staff Mark Meadows, budget chief Russell Vought, acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, and acting director of national intelligence Richard Grenell, are supporting their onetime boss.
“As I have said, I am proudly supporting & endorse Donald J. Trump for president in 2024. He is the only person I trust to take a wrecking ball to the Deep State. I’ve seen his willingness up close & behind closed doors. My friend & former boss is going to finish what he started,” Vought tweeted in May.

I think you meant 40 of 44. (Too many 4s to juggle in this topic.)
Indeed I think messiah complex is a good peg, but I prefer butt-kissing slavish adoration.
The problem is Trump’s next admin will also have people like these.
He had a lot of good supporters getting some amazing things done last time.
The one thing about Trump is he learns. IF you are not making mistakes, you are not trying. He reached a long way.
40 bad hires
Do you mean EverTrumpers or “NeverTrumpers”? It goes both ways, possibly.
I will never sit home with my ball and not vote. Doesn’t matter who is candidate. I will never let a Dem slide.
I’m sick over these people who do want to take their ball home and stay away if it’s not their man.
Lack of deep-state support is a badge of honor President Trump proudly should wear.
Saboteurs, back stabbers and deadwood. All hand selected and recommended by the Rinos.
>> If you were looking to hire an executive and 4 of 44 former staff indicated they wouldn’t hire the guy…
What if the staff are largely corrupt weasels?
If true, that is very damning.
I’m not sure it is a ‘messiah complex’. It seems to me that Trump is a smart, funny, a poor judge of people, and lacks self control. However, I really don’t like how the justice system has been weaponized. I’ll vote for Trump just to discourage the continued use of that tactic.
I guess the “40” are supporting Biden!
They’ve all been asked?
Yah, he did not know how corrupt the system was that “vetted” candidates.
So, going forward appoint only a handful with each in charge of a couple of depts. Then, thin out the depts — cancel them entirely or consolidate with extreme prejudice.
Then, cycle them in and out on regular basis.
Maybe the best that can be said is that Trump doesn’t hire “yes” men. Otherwise, Trump looks either incompetent at staffing, or less than impressive in his behavior in office or in his management style. Or maybe they were all nefariously coerced into turning on him. Bottom line: This isn’t, to my way of thinking, an encouraging story, and reminder that the problems we face require Divine mercy and intervention.
This is theman I would vote for over Trump and the rest of the field.

Trump is an SOB, but he’s the only honest SOB in a Republican Party filled with greedy, traitorous, and gutless SOBs willing to fight back and endure punishment against this nation’s domestic enemies!
And Richard Grenell is openly gay. Forgive me for being bigoted, but I don’t trust members of the LGBT movement with national security.
Good. No more 🐍.
The polls are fake. Even Trump himself doesn’t believe them, which is why he continues to attack DeSantis while pleading with everyone to drop out of the race and give him all of their money before the first primary vote is even cast.
I don’t disagree with anything you wrote.
I have no idea who they are.
I was so unimpressed.
