We Need a Limited Military Draft

It's time to change how our country fills the ranks of our military.

Since 1775, our nation has used a combination of volunteers and draftees to meet our national defense personnel needs, especially in times of crisis.

Today, the military needs only about 160,000 youth from an eligible population of 30 million to meet its recruitment needs. But after two decades of war -- both of which ended unsuccessfully -- and low unemployment, many experts believe the all-volunteer force has reached a breaking point. And American confidence in its military is at a low.

“I’m good with that. At least not in combat arms, front line positions.”

Current law does not allow women to only be sent to non-combat arms. It specifically forbids such segregation. SO your daughters WILL be sent to the grunts, etc.

And before that they will be sent to submit to lesbian butch drill instructors and NCOs.

The only reason for a draft, is for a war of national survival.

Interesting second and third order effects to a draft… people who are subject to a draft tend to be keenly aware of voter fraud and a lot more animated against rigged elections and corruption in general… not a fan but we aren’t living in a free country right now. I guess we see.

https://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/your-marine-corps/2022/10/10/the-marine-corps-hit-all-its-recruitment-goals-for-2022/

The Corps initially had planned to recruit 30,100 active-duty and 5,502 Reserve troops, for a total of 35,602 for fiscal year 2022, but it was allowed to reduce that target by 2,400 in part because of high retention, Marine Corps Times previously reported.

Well, not quite but for a very good reason. What is interesting is the marines aren’t bragging about How they did it........................

Marines usually brag in my experience.

“Only Marines are meeting recruitment goals.”

Here are my observations. The guys I’ve known who joined did so because it was the hardest service. They were looking for a challenge and to prove something, if only to themselves. My Marine buddy is in contact with an Australian who served with him. Same thing, he believed it was the hardest possible job, so he joined, not to become a citizen, but to be a Marine. Recently when asked about planned incentives the Commandant of the Marine corp said, “We’re not offering money. Your reward is you get to call yourself a Marine.” I think he’s spot on and knows his product well.

Says the Marine officer married to a Marine officer.

No. You don’t get to “fill up the ranks” with our sons and daughters at your whim, for your truly evil MIC-driven wars.

Joe Plenzler... retired officer who regrets he cannot force more men under his command against their will. Typical.

Robert Heinlein had a great idea:

No citizenship without proving that you're responsible with it. And that means two years (minimum) enlisting and serving with the military.

You only get to vote and hold office if you've served honorably first.

Maybe even withhold entitlements if a person has not served.

The real base cause of the military's recruiting problem has been building for decades - shortly after the all volunteer force became reality.

Speaking about my families extended service to the Republic:
It was independently documented in 1931 that this military tradition extended back to the 1790s. The tradition of civil service to the Republic extended almost as far. My personal service includes 20 years service as a commissioned officer starting 1970 with almost another 20 years working as a contractor for US Air Force Special Operations Command. When my son asked if he should continue the family's traditions I told him NO!

What I had seen since 1979 clearly demonstrated the Republic's political leadership had no intention of keeping their personal swearing in oaths, voluntarily take (and renewed), as they became national political leaders.

If there is no loyalty down how can those same people demand loyalty up?

My final straw was broken one night when I realized that our entire education system never understood the most unique aspect of the American military — we belong to the people - not the republic, a social class or a political party. That was our backbone since that “Shot heard around the world” at Lexington and Concord greens.

Until that almost 200-year relationship reestablished the Republic will continue have problems maintaining a military force capable of defending itself.

That's how I feel.
If they reinstated the draft and I was draft eligible, I know two guys that wouldn't be going.
Me and the guy looking for me.

I’ve advocated that if someone wants a free education enlist. Serve two years, two years of fixed rate tuition. Serve four years, four years tuition.
