The multilateral trade agreement known as the Transpacific Partnership (TPP), is a massive pacific rim trade agreement favored by Wall Street, the US Chamber of Commerce, Club for Growth, Ron DeSantis (voted to approve) and now candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
President Trump famously took the U.S. out of the TPP agreement around the same time he took us out of the Paris Climate Agreement. As noted by President Trump and his economic team at the time, Free Trade Agreements (FTA’s) are beneficial to the USA when they are bilateral between the U.S. and another singular nation. Multinational trade agreements end up serving the interests of the least common denominator nation and are detrimental in their finished outcome to U.S. consumers.
Wall Street loves multinational trade agreements because they provide greater flexibility for the profit opportunities of global corporations, multinational corporations and banks. However, Main Street USA suffers from lost manufacturing jobs, lowered overall wages, and cheap imported durable goods that are an outcome of the lowest cost manufacturing priority.
During a Twitter spaces discussion yesterday presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy said he was in favor of reengaging the U.S. in the TPP trade agreement. This is a non-starter for any America First economic platform.
“I think we should re-enter it,” Ramaswamy said to Musk about 94 minutes into the conversation on Twitter. “I think this is a little bit different than what, you know, the course of action taken by Trump in exiting the TPP [Trans-Pacific Partnership]. I think that was actually a poor decision.” (link)
This should be a disqualifying position for any consideration in the Trump administration.

These people ALL eventually think EXACTLY THE SAME.
So Vivek McRombush joins Nikki McRomBush, Tim McRomBush, Chris McRomBush, Asa McRomBush, Mike McRomBush, Doug McRomBush and Will McRomBush.
And Ron has surrounded himself with McRomBushes, so he will soon be one.
Is it any wonder that Trump is now above 50% in just about every state primary poll. He's the only one that thinks differently and talks differently, and will act in office (and acted) differently.
The rest are just a mindless uni-voice. "oh, thanks for the memo, I know what to think and say now."
“Yup, so he’s done.”
I agree, but I do like to toss him around to show the NeverTrumpers (Ukraine War supporters) just how weak DeSantis is, now that he’s joined their cause.
Kind of fun!
Lol. Will the ones slobbering over him admit it? Nope. So many bashed for telling the truth the last few weeks. It’s tragic.
Disappointing...
Hes not eligible to be POTUS but I thought he might run for Congress or the Senate ...
I had hopes for Ramaswamy in the future - ‘28 and beyond, but slowly he is being revealed.
Somebody mentioned on another thread that when he was in Congress, DeSantis voted for the TPP. So I looked it up. By golly, he sure did.
The TPP is about as anti-MAGA as you can get. And I’m using MAGA here with no reference to Trump. I mean it as in putting America first.
If DeSantis is pro-TPP, then I’m anti-DeSantis.
I don’t get the strategy of the Anti-Trumpers (Ukraine War supporters) in that Trump has made it PERFECTLY CLEAR that he will be running in 2024, even if it’s from a jail cell.
So the GOP can try to ‘disqualify’ him in some way, to keep him off of their ballot, but then Trump will likely sign-up to another party and STILL RUN.
I’ll let NeverTrumpers here think about the above for a few minutes, and the impact it will have on down-ballot races.
DeSantis is there too?
They are all dead to me!
Did all the republicans? Typically they are lockstep in votes. Remember trump was president. He demanded it.
“And Ron has surrounded himself with McRomBushes, so he will soon be one.”

DeSantis supported the Trans Pacific Partnership while in congress.
As a congressman, DeSantis voted in favor of granting then-President Barack Obama the ability to fast-track the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a globalized free trade deal that Obama hailed as “the most progressive trade deal in history.” During his 2016 run for the White House, Trump opposed TPP as the “greatest danger yet” to American manufacturing and ultimately killed it during his presidency. Trump has yet to criticize DeSantis over his congressional vote.
So long, Vivek. Nice to hear you affirm President Trump for awhile, but good to have you expose your swampiness eventually.
Ann Archy is so invested in Ranswampy that she types in ALL CAPS.
> Remember Trump was president. He demanded it. <
I’m not quite sure about what you mean there. But I will note that when Trump was president he withdrew the United States from the TPP. He realized just how bad it was for the country.
As a side note, I saw your tagline. Don’t get me wrong. DeSantis has done quite a few good things. But the TPP’s “free trade” provisions will absolutely destroy what’s left of America’s middle class. I cannot support someone who can’t see that.
Perhaps DeSantis has changed his opinion on the TPP since he left Congress. If so, somebody ought to let us know.
DeSantis is an Elmo Society, Deep State neocon.
Always has been.
Vivek is probably even worse.
“Ann Archy is so invested in Ranswampy that she types in ALL CAPS.”
It ain’t only Ramaswampy, I think she just likes SHOUTING a lot. Seems she shouts something on every post.
ramaswampy
Folks who have been supporting this guy really have needed to dig deeper this guys a fraud from top to bottom.
an OZ on the national stage
Well thats a disappointment
FWIW, Dennis Prager is very excited about Vivek, and has been lauding him extensively.
There were over 200 replies on a thread recently, discussing the issue of natural born citizenship. Many Freepers argued back and forth and presented evidence for their point of view.
Just saying, there is no Free Republic consensus on that issue.
