DeSantis: Spending that Caused Inflation Started with over $4 Trillion in Spending in 2020 Under Trump
Breitbart ^ | July 28, 2023 | Ian Hanchett

During an interview with SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show” that took place on Thursday and aired on Friday, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said that we have “a government-induced inflation crisis, starting in March of 2020,” with spending under the CARES Act and other spending in 2020 by the Trump administration that President Joe Biden added to when he took office. DeSantis also argued that “We would not have had the inflation that we had had they not done the Fauci lockdowns and the CARES Act and all this other stuff.”

DeSantis said, “Well, first of all, what’s the root of the high prices? The root is government. This is a government-induced inflation crisis, starting in March of 2020, with the $2 trillion CARES Act, the Fed printing money, December [2020], you had 2.2 trillion out the door for Biden when he came in. Biden did the American Rescue Plan, another 2 trillion. So, when you borrow, print, and spend trillions and trillions of dollars like that, you are going to get inflation. … And then you had the Federal Reserve - >>>>SNIP>>>>>

Trump turned the government over to Fauci and then tried to compensate for the economic damage to families by mailing out checks, now we all are paying for it with every purchase. Not only did he not "flatten the curve" for COVID he started one for inflation that hasn't been flattened yet.

He’s not wrong. Trump spent our money like water. Added most to our future debt of anybody.

It started under Obama and Bush, but he is forgetting the most important part, keeping interest rates so low for so long.

It was one of Trump’s largest fails, to hand the checkbook to Nancy in 2020. The panic of Covid made fools of many people.

... but he didn’t say “started in 2010 under Obama” how odd.

Nor did he mention that Trump was being simultaneously ending Fake Impeachment #2, entering COVID-1984 ambush (the ones the Dems said was nothing before it was an excuse for every violation they could pull), and the spending was Dem bills supported by 30 Pence and the Fauci brigade.

I previously wrote that Ron didn’t really want to run this time but was told to be the attack vector against Trump. The Donors have obviously told him, even as his campaign collapses, that the price include flaming out in bitter rehashes of Democrat talking points.

Since nobody else seems eager to take on the role of pitbull-for-pay, there will no doubt be an interlude in which a David Duke clone appears to ‘endorse’ Trump using every hyperbolic parody of all the isms and ists the left claims we’re all about.

It’s the political equivalent of machine gun cover fire; nothing likely to hit but keeping the focus on the loud noise and chaos and everyone’s heads down rather than minor things like WW3 or the preparations for 2024 Vote Fraud Squared.

He’s not wrong. Trump spent our money like water. Added most to our future debt of anybody.

Small details missed by the socialists and other ignoramus.

Trump was building a booming economy that was generating wealth with which the bills could be paid.

Biden and his ignorant flunkies have destroyed much of that potential tax revenue.

Had Trump wom in 2020 we would have seen the best economy and the highest employment in the history of the country.

Instead we have a miserable economy and the highest debt in history.

Oh please. And how much debt was paid by trumps so called great economy? He had control through signing bills. Only interest was paid like bush, Obama, and Biden.

Long go I learned not to argue with some people. A total waste of time.

I pass.

But you will learn the hard way, if at all.

By totally ignoring the unique circumstances of March 2020, DeSantis is revealing his true colors. And they are not pretty. I was an early fan of DeSantis, thought he was, hopefully, “Trump without the mean tweets.” Obviously I was wrong. Done with him, like almost everyone else by now.

This won’t work. DeSantis was doing better before he even announced - Trump was attacking him with over the top “grandma in a wheel chair over the cliff” far-left Democrat rhetoric which DeSantis was ignoring, and DeSantis was initially taking on Biden and the Democrats. Should have continued with that formula instead of attacking Trump - would have been more like running Trump’s record and saying he would have a better chance of being able to implement said policies again. Instead, he’s attacking Trump’s record. DeSantis even undermined his own success story on COVID19 that he could have run on in contrast to Biden but instead designed to come up with a disingenuous narrative to attack Trump on.

And the inflation did not start under Trump. A case could be made that the spending coupled with Biden’s later spending spawned it, but the economy had absorbed the spending before that and Biden and the Democrats sent it beyond the tipping point. This is basically deflecting from that reality and it harms the Republicans as a whole by trying to say “this wasn’t Biden’s fault - it was the Republicans fault and Trump’s fault!” Bad move for many reasons.

He is not wrong about the spending. But FJB has only made it 3 times worse....

They all spend like there is no consequence whatsoever.

The majority of the rise in inflation is due to the doubling of fuel costs.

That’s on Biden.

The question is: Is DeSantis letting himself be used by the uniparty against Trump or is DeSantis part of the uniparty? Either way, he shouldn't be saying this without including all the relevant facts. Congress, Bush, Obama, Covid, etc. I won't vote for DeSantis for President but I wasn't going to before he made this comment, either.
