I’m on the same page as you (i.e. that the America we knew is gone). HOwever, WE ARE STILL HERE (which is what pisses THEM off beyond reason).
What can we retain? I don’t know; but I do take solace in the Bible, what’s left of the Constitution, the present, tenuous Supreme Court, the writings of Solzhenitsyn, Vaclav Havel, et al, and Free Republic. The guys on FR that give me cause for grief are the ones who comment on every positive article, saying “Nothing will happen, or none of this will do any good”. I am persuaded of better things.
My guess is that the story is breaking now because late summer is the second slowest time of the year for news.
The slowest news time is the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day. That’s why the media spends the last week of the year running those stories recalling what happened over the year.

I lived south of San Diego from 1980-’82. They had me TERRIFIED of flushing the toilet if it was just pee even back then! ;)
I lived in the last American city before you hit Sunny Mexico, and had an apartment right on the ocean. It wasn’t unusual to see illegals wading to shore at all hours of the day.
Three days later they will be coming out of there like sewer rats.
It will be a month before they can return. Make that month highly productive out on the streets. Local news crews, interviews, etc. ..
Amen; we are in a true death struggle and it behooves us to always keep on punching as long as we have any punch left in us.
