African Union Chairman Says Putin's Grain Offer Is Not Enough, Calls For Cease-Fire In Ukraine

The chairman of the African Union said on July 28 that proposals by Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide grain to Africa were insufficient.

In a closing address to a Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg, Azali Assoumani also said that a cease-fire is necessary in Ukraine.

Putin earlier told the African leaders that Russia was ready to supply Africa with grain, some of it for free, after refusing last week to extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative before it expired. The deal, brokered last year by the United Nations and Turkey, allowed Ukraine to export grain safely from Black Sea ports despite the war.

The global price of grain has soared since Russia withdrew and since it subsequently began bombing Ukrainian grain export facilities.

Russia wants to provide 25,000 to 50,000 tons of grain for free in the next three to four months, Putin told the African leaders on July 27. Zimbabwe, Mali, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Eritrea, and the Central African Republic are to receive the grain.

The most fertile lands on Earth, populated by the lowest IQ humans.
Similarly during the 1980 grain embargo against the Soviets, more of a ploy by Jimmah Carter to show what a tough guy he was, the late great Barry Farber used this incident as another reason why capitalism is so much more superior to socialism. The US, where 3% of the people live off the land has surpluses of grain. Whereas the USSR, where 50% of the people live off the land experience grain shortages.
What happened to all those mighty, thriving self sufficient African kingdoms from ancient times? I thought they was KANGS!?!

Pootie offer all the African nations 50 tons of grain to be split however they see fit.

According to the article: Russia wants to provide 25,000 to 50,000 tons of grain for free in the next three to four months, Putin told [...]

Still only a pittance, to be sure!

So they can figure out how to pump oil and not grow a tomato? I’m going to go ahead and call B.S on that racist trope. (Not saying you’re a racist bit the idea that blacks/Africans are inherentlylow IQ is)

Maskirovka. It is Russia, who needs the ceasefire. They are on backfoot, near collapse and wish to gather strength before attacking again.

The rest of what the Africans are saying is just domestically popular and meant to legitimize their service to Russia.

Note:

African poor and “rust belt”/Appalachia poor are not comparable;

African poor scrabbles in the dust for a piece of stale bread to live for another day, while “rust belt”/Appalachia poor toss the stale bread and run to the store;

African poor is exotic and “rust belt”/Appalachia poor is beneath notice.

50 tons/50,000 tons is all the same - a whole lot of people starving & giving thanks to Pootie’s generosity.

Simple, support Russia and China, get food, do not support Russia and China get no food and killed by your military and Wagner Mercenaries. Join the new Russian Empire—and you live. Simple really.

So horns locked again?

Sure, Africa is the poorest of all the continents. Without a doubt. They lag behind for a variety of reasons. But times are changing. "Food aid" is not helping them develop their agriculture and perhaps when big Agribusinesses invest more, productivity will increase. But "free" will kill any market anywhere.

I found the article with URL below most interesting, because we shopped open air farmers markets in Germany every week, and now here in the states we still buy from some farms, including having picked tomatoes and okra and sweet corn last week. So, there's that.

As you observe "African poor is exotic and “rust belt”/Appalachia poor is beneath notice." Wish it all weren't.

We patronized in Germany and still patronize here open air markets and local farms because we want them to have enough business to prosper. It has the additional feature of side-stepping multi-national Ag. Yeah, we bake our own bread too.

The Black Sea Initiative included the purchase of millions of tons of grain, oils and other AG products from Ukraine...for free distribution in Africa.

They want that arrangement returned.

They do not care where the UN gets the grain.

Russia has said they have an abundance for sale.

But contrary to the original agreement, the UN won’t buy it and SWIFT won’t let Russian AG banks have access to world markets.

When I was working in a hospital in Niamey, Niger..the villages nearby sold big bags of grain at local markets that were clearly marked “gift from the USA”

We wuz kangz!

The people who think that think Egyptians were Negroes. They aren’t joking or trolling.

Rami Malek was cast to play a Pharaoh for some flick.
It showed a behind the scenes pic of him in costume.
Blacks were commenting about “Why they got a white dude playing an Egyptian?!”
There was a reply of,”Ummm...because he’s Egyptian...”
Followed by responses of Africa is where blacks are from, not white dudes.
It was something to behold.

Agriculture is no longer labor intensive, as it was in the past. The West continues send Africa their second-hand clothes. We are trying to help them. But we are hurtingthe developmentof their economies when we are doing it.
