I remember the events. My mom was still living in Abq at the time and we visited frequently.
Visited Santa Fe a couple of years ago for the first time, and couldn’t understand the attraction. It didn’t feel Old West, nor Native American, nor even Hippie Refugee as advertised. More like a high-priced tourist trap for New York liberals who are scared to visit the real West - complete with a few California-style homeless decorating the streets. Canyon Drive with all of its art galleries was the only interesting part.
Sedona is much more visually interesting and does everything better - I wouldn’t waste time on a second Santa Fe trip.
Ahhhhh… Then you know the lay of the land in those parts.
“actually just destroying the generational wealth of Hispanic landowners’
That worked so well in Venezuela, didn’t it?
BTW, I dont trust Taylor Sheridan being anything but a screaming ‘Progressive”. I see the Native Americans ending up with the Yellowstone ranch in the story.
It’s all that you say. The only thing of interest is some of the early Spanish architecture.
What the hell did they expect???
Didn’t they even listen to his campaign promises to destroy their entire way of life?
I used to. 😁👍. Highland High 65.
😁👍
They voted for him and now they can suck it.
Lots of them are just fine with the current state of affairs.
Try Virginia City NV sometime. 😁👍

In general, Anglo's and Latino illegals are not welcome there. Think of the setting as sort of the New Mexico version similar to that in the film "Deliverance."
Santa Fe is not northern New Mexico except that voters there are Democrats too. Travel US 285 and US 84 north from there or take the back roads to Taos.
Lived in Santa Fe for 13 years, left thirty years ago. Yeah, I know.

They voted for it, they asked for it, they deserve it!
Anyone with the slightest bit of intelligence could look at Joe Biden’s history and tell he is a bully. Anyone could look up his legislative history and tell he is a racist with dictatorial tendencies. Anyone could look at his narrative that he was a “middle class Joe” and tell that was a lie.
Don’t come crying now that you realize you fell for the media’s mantra that Joe Biden is a “moderate”. His history was there for all to see. The media had even previously reported on his graft, his ignorance, and his propensity to lie—about everything.
Anyone who voted for Joe Biden, especially after enjoying the freedom and economic growth during the Trump years, deserves what they get.
I have no sympathy at all for Biden voters who are suffering. I save my sympathy for the Trump voters who went to the polls to cast their vote for freedom and prosperity only to have it stolen by corrupt election officials who allowed illegal ballots to be counted in their precincts thus over-ruling the people’s voice.
If these people are serious about their disappointment, they will loudly declare they will never vote the (D) ticket again, and volunteer at the polls to make sure the ballot counting is done correctly.
/rant!
😕👍 I love NM but the politics are worse than NV.
“I have no sympathy at all for Biden voters who are suffering” We know quite a few and they either had more resources than we realized or they’re getting monthly checks as repayment for their support. They are that enamored with the entire cabal and there is NO changing their minds. They are still PDJT=hitler. If you were able to stomach it for more than 30 seconds ‘The Young Turks’ are on Pluto network. OMG! Rabid pieces of crap.
Northern New Mexico is either heavily Roman Catholic (due to a large Hispanic population), or pagan (Native American/other). Lots of new agers go to Taos to hear the hum.
There are many families that have been in the area for hundreds of years, as they are Spanish and their lands were granted them by the crown. That makes real estate transactions tricky sometimes, as they don’t like “outsiders.” Yes, I’ve seen signs that say “This land is not for sale.”
The Jicarilla Apache reservation includes the town of Dulce, which is near Archuleta Mesa. There is rumored to be a DUMB (deep underground military base) there where a battle between aliens and US military personnel took place back in the late 70s or thereabouts. Cattle mutilations and other strange goings-on still happen in the vicinity.
Other than that, the scenery is fabulous.
