Taganrog pummeled by missile leaving massive crater in street and people trapped

As many as 15 people have been injured in two explosions that damaged a residential building and left a crater in a central square in the Russian city of Taganrog on Friday.

Windows shattered, and the building was nearly reduced to rubble.

A column of smoke now rises over the city, which is near the Ukrainian border.

Claims of people trapped under the debris have been circulating, but that is yet unconfirmed.

Disturbing videos show passersby running around in a panic, trying to find loved ones or avoid more falling debris.

Yeah, sorry. They voted for Putin, Putin took them to war. The Ruzzians and a lot of their supporters here on FR cheered the destruction of apartments and whole cities in Ukraine and now Ukraine is hitting back. Serves them right.

No different than the Germans who voted for Hitler and then Hitler took them to war with similar promises of glory, victory, and conquest. German cities were obliterated in response to German attacks on other people’s cities.

Zelensky wasn’t “installed” by either 0bama or Biden.

Zelensky was elected in 2019, President Trump had called him to reopen the criminal investigation into the Biden crime syndicate in which Zelensky agreed.

The strike was caught on video. Military analysts identified it as an S-200 missile, used by Ukraine but not by Russia for many years.

Hit a civilian area injuring civilians.

Article says Russia intercepted a Ukrainian missile and the damage below was done by falling debris. As bad as the damage was, there was no explosion because the missile was destroyed, so it could have been much worse.

Maybe. It’s true Russia stopped using S-200s about a decade ago, but they never throw anything away, and they’ve been using all sorts of obsolete equipment out of necessity.

Be interesting if they can figure out the configuration of the missiles.

It also appears the missile (whatever it was) was intercepted (presumably on its way to the airfield) and the middle of town is where it landed.

That’s a big issue with Iron Dome and various countermeasures my county uses with Iranian/Arab attacks, as the falling AAA can do just as much damage as some missiles.

That was not an intercepted missile. It was intact. and its trajectory directed straight onto the town center.

It is a amazing…..the gyrations people will go to, to blame Russia for attacking its own town.

Yeah, I firmly don’t know what happened.

I’m just assuming logic. There is zero strategic reason to hit a town, but there is a legit target just outside of town.

The missiles on both sides seriously suck.

So a miss or a shoot down are both extremely plausible.

If Ukraine was going for a terror attack, there are way easier and higher value targets.

9 years of watching what the Ukes did and have done to the populations of Crimea, Luhansk, Donetsk…and the rest of Russian-speaking Ukrainian and former Ukrainian oblasts…leaves no reasonable doubt or gyrations about Kiev’s treatment of civilians.
