Starting next week, Americans will only be able to purchase LED lights from retailers across the nation as an official ban on incandescent lightbulbs will go into effect. Come Tuesday, while it won’t be illegal to own incandescent light bulbs, it will be illegal for stores to sell them and companies to manufacture them.

I saw this coming years ago and bought several cases (100’s) of incandescent light bulbs on clearance.
I have a small stash, just in case. I kept them when I replaced them with LED’ just in case I ever wanted a hot inefficient bulb.
I hoarded tons of them as well. I have to now go find more 40 watt bulbs for my living room.
What about heat lamp bulbs that everyone uses for chicken brooders?
hear hear!!
“LED bulbs save money in the long run because they use less energy to run and last longer.”
I have managed to burn out several LED bulbs, WELL below their advertised expected life.
If you look on the packaging, the stated usage expected is like 2 hours per day. That’s how they tout “years” of use.
It’s not a good thing to be bossed around by the government, but if given a choice of LED or incandescent bulb, I will pick the LED every time.
LED’s have improved, but they still product a very artificial quality of light, while incandescent bulbs can produce warmer light. Most people don’t care, but I notice the difference and it matters to me.
At least this didn’t happen when the only alternative was CFLs, which I knew would eventually be replaced by much better LEDs, so there’s that.
everyone is forgetting the brillant, cool Obama-bulbs (mercury bulbs) that totally symbolized Liberal Progress.
poisonous, ruining anything a broken, poorly lit screwbulb touches.
In the Soviet Union, automobiles like the Lada and Trabant were available in several different colors. This was hailed as a milestone in Soviet consumer choice.
This!!!!!
Next will be campfires and barbecues.
What about appliance bulbs?
Ovens & refrigerators use INCA. bulbs made especially for them to handle temp extremes.
IIRC. LED does’t like cold. Do NOT know how they handle OVEN TEMPS.
DETAILS——DETAILS-— The Dems always miss the details.
GOOD POINT????
LEDs get too hot inside light fixtures. Older homes CANNOT use the LEDs safely.
Thought this thing with the LEDs had disappeared.
I believe in Liberty. Do what you want. But I have 100-watt equivalent LEDs installed on my porch. Each uses 24-watts. They’re supposedly good for 7 years at 8 hr.s a day and pay themselves off within a year. I’ve been running them 24/7 since 2013.
The only green I care about is in my bank.
Of course I just jinxed them so I hope they’re still sold by HomeD.
Price compare——MY ‘OLD’ bulbs cost me about 50 cents each-—I do not even walk down the lighting aisle, so I do NOT know how much LEDs are.
