As you see, the only time a Citizen could be president was at the time of the adoption of the Constitution until a first generation natural born Citizen was eligible. Martin Van Buren was the first natural born Citizen president.

That said, he is an interesting candidate with some good things to say who is peaking right now, but I seriously doubt he gets anywhere near the nomination. I would put RFK Jr’s odds much higher than Ramaswamy.
After the presidency of Hussein O’Bama the Natural Born clause is a dead letter. Anyone on earth is eligible to be US President so long as he is the minimum age and probably needs to be present on US soil.

Well, the amendment coming later isn’t a convincing argument. If it were, then none of the amendments would carry any weight, because they are all passed after the thing they are amending. That’s the very nature of amendments.
