The Air Force will not elaborate on the consequences of the Russians' use of Kinzhal aero ballistic missiles on the airfield in Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
Source: Colonel Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force of Ukraine, on air of Ukraine’s national 24/7 newscast
Quote: "Yesterday, in addition to the missiles that flew one after the other from the southeast and were headed first seemingly to Kharkiv [Oblast], then to Dnipropetrovsk [Oblast], and then went to the south, from there to the west, and then to Khmelnytskyi Oblast, namely Starokostiantyniv; at the same time the enemy decided to also strike from the north using MiG-31K aircraft with Kinzhal missiles.
...there is some damage [on the territory of the airfield – ed.], which, of course, we will not report, but the enemy did use those four Kinzhal missiles, and they were visible."

And it appears they hit their mark, reducing/diminshing Ukraine's ability to deliver Storm Shadows.
This sophisticated attack most certainly got some respect in the Pentagon.
The headline needs the word “Ukrainian” in front of Airforce
How is this new? They’ve been using Kinzhals since the start of the war.
Maximum speed: Mach 10
Yikes 😳
Not a fan but do NOT underestimate Russians.
These are ‘Rail Guns’-—?
.
Giddyup!
The PPP, Perfumed Princes of the Pentagon, are waaaaay too busy giving transgendered admirals and generals a back rub...................
Its a ballistic missile - a modified Iskander with a different engine - Patriot batteries can shoot them down. In this case, the Patriots were out of range, apparently.
Anybody know how many hundreds of Patriot missiles we are producing monthly? How about new tanks, are we making any?
Pretty vague on the details of what was taken out. Russia may be targeting airfields and support infrastructure to make hosting F-16’s more difficult. Just speculation.
Nah, they were probably too busy with diversity training or inventing some tranny holiday.
Is that accurate?
That’s scramjet speed.
It’s what’s claimed
Far beyond the Mach 5 I would have expected
Yeah if they’re capable of Mach 10 after air launch it seems hard to believe
Of course Patriots were also designed for ballistic warheads and that’s about Mach 14+ - in theory
Mach 10 is almost 127.88 miles per minute
2.13 miles per second
That’s around 7600mph. I don’t see how that could be shot down.
Maybe a laser based platform?…
Laser, rail gun?
Intercept window by closing speed, fusing, detonation, kill radius - wow tough shot to say the least
Laser still needs to be on the target for some amount of time too
Targeting would be very quick
To my knowledge nothing exists, but there’s plenty of things beyond my knowledge.
Yeah who knows
If a MiG-31K released one, say 115 miles from target, if it reaches Mach 10 at 100 miles from target, just under 47 seconds to intercept. (for example)
